Contract role
Analytics Engineer
Overview: GNA project focused on building a unified reporting layer across Medicare, Commercial, and Medicaid. Currently reporting is very scattered, reporting is limited, and the goal is to build a "one stop shop" for GNA reporting.
• They have developed a high-level strategy, 3-layered data mart on Google Cloud Platform BigQuery: raw layer, performance layer, consumption layer. Raw is staging, pure ingestion; performance is normalized, cleansed, massaged data, consumption layer is semantic for reporting.
• Have broken down work with domain: Member, Provider, Claims, etc. A total of 16 important areas for Medicare and want to deliver 4 by Q2; in parallel they are working on a data model to bring in commercial data.
• Medicaid not yet in scope.
• Right now, they have Medicare data (largest portion of data) landed in raw and is live, performance is not there yet.
• Will onboard Commercial and Medicaid data next year.
Role Notes:
• This role will be working across the Performance Layer, Consumption, and the BI Development.
• Will need experience in massaging data, cleansing, building tables and views for reporting, SQL skills.
• Either Power BI or Looker for BI development - have not implemented either. Ideal if this person can advise them as to the best tool to use.
• Will not need to build out data ingestion processes - they will more-so need to work with business requirements to understand data availability needs and work them back into the data models, tables, etc. for reports and validation. Does the report accurately reflect the data or are there major gaps?
• Also interested in bringing on Data Modelers - pure modelers who can build physical models in the Performance layer per domain and business requirements. Unsure about any particular tools that they are using for data modeling or refinement
•
•
• Need someone who can work on the solution but has experience to brainstorm and decide on solution that's best for program and the application.
• Google Cloud Platform experience would be ideal, but other cloud experience is sufficient.
• Medicaid or related domain experience nice to have.
Must Have:
• SQL: building and optimizing tables/views for reporting
• Data cleansing & transformation: normalize and prepare data in the Performance layer so the Consumption layer remains reliable and consistent.
• Semantic/BI layer design experience (defining metrics, conformed dimensions, and businessfriendly views) for dashboard/reporting builds
• Power BI or Looker BI development odels, and validation checks).
• Experience in cloud data platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred, AWS/Azure/Snowflake/Databricks acceptable).
Nicetohave / Preferred
• Google Cloud Platform/BigQuery familiarity
• Healthcare payer domain exposure, especially Medicare or Medicaid
SQLbased ELT orchestration tooling (i.e. Dataform/dbt)
