Job Overview

Airswift is seeking a Back Office Analyst to join our Client's fast-paced trading environment in Houston. This is an exciting opportunity to support our Power Operations Desk and Energy Data Management team by managing trading counterparts, ensuring accurate trading information, and handling invoicing and financial reconciliations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

As a Back Office Analyst, you will be responsible for:

Trade Confirmation & Management

   • Manage a portfolio of trading counterparts.

   • Verify traders provide accurate deal-sheets and electronic download reports for all trades validated within the in-house trading system (the BOOK).

   • Ensure accurate trading information is represented by confirming deals with counterparts and brokers daily.

   • Monitor and verify exchange-traded positions and limits.

   • Reconcile open trade equity to daily statements from clearing houses.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

   • Monitor and report financial OTC trades to regulators within 24 hours of execution.

   • Send invoices to counterparts within industry and contractual deadlines.

   • Reconcile counterpart/pipeline invoices with internal systems, working with Operations and Middle Office to resolve discrepancies.

   • Agree on settlements with counterparts, provide payment instructions and cash forecast information to the Treasury team.

   • Assist the Accounting team with aged debt reporting and resolution.

   • Monitor and apply payment terms and netting rules within Simba and Contract Management systems.

   • Analyze settlement statements from Simba SMS system.

Operational Support

   • Distribute and track all confirmations produced by the BOOK Confirmation Module or from third parties.

   • Analyze confirmations and settlements of daily executed trades for pricing and volume adjustments.

   • Handle onboarding of new counterparts.

   • Assist internally and externally with any Back Office-related questions.

   • Participate in team and individual projects assigned by the Back Office Manager or Supervisor.

   • Support, mentor, and assist junior team members.

Process Improvement & Risk Management

   • Run management reports and ad-hoc analysis.

   • Identify and communicate operational risks, define risk mitigation measures and priorities.

   • Support, identify, and assist in implementing process and system improvements, including system testing and desk-level process enhancements.

Qualifications & Skills

   • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Energy, or a business-related field.

   • 2–3 years of experience in the Gas and Power markets with a strong data analysis focus.

   • Understanding of the North American power industry.

   • Knowledge of energy commodity markets is highly desirable.

   • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

   • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

   • Excellent communication skills and a customer service mindset.

   • High proficiency in Excel, VBA, Python, Power BI, and Alteryx — ability to develop new tools and reports to optimize processes.

   • Strong drive for innovation and process improvement.
