Job Description
As a Business Analyst supporting large information technology projects in the Energy & Utilities sector, you will serve as a critical link between business needs and technological solutions. This role offers variety and a challenging environment ideal for professional growth, working on impactful projects that modernize utility operations and support clean energy goals.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams including IT developers, business stakeholders, and project managers to ensure successful implementation of technology solutions. You'll gather requirements, analyze energy data, document processes, and validate that solutions align with business objectives. This position provides the opportunity to work on time-sensitive projects that directly impact operational efficiency, customer experience, and strategic business initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Gather and document business requirements using interviews, workshops, and user stories
• Analyze and map business processes to identify optimization opportunities
• Collaborate with IT teams to design technology solutions aligned with business goals
• Work with cross-functional teams on time-sensitive energy data analysis that helps summarize the business's goals, initiatives, and customer performance
• Ensure solution alignment with different stakeholders across the organization
• Contribute to project success by participating in testing and validation activities
• Write clear and well-structured business requirements and documentation
• Translate complex raw data into useful summaries for business decision-making
• Support IT modernization initiatives and project delivery activities
Required Experience/Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field
• 4+ years of proven experience as a Business Analyst or Functional Analyst in the Energy & Utilities industry
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to turn complex raw data into useful summaries
• Experience with Data Analytics, SQL, MS Access, and PowerBI
• Proficiency with business analysis techniques and tools such as UML or BPMN
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Must be local to New Jersey and able to commute to the office 3 days per week
Nice-to-Haves
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
• Knowledge of Energy & Utilities IT Systems
• Experience with Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency programs
• Previous experience supporting large-scale IT transformation projects
• Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements in the utilities sector
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field required
