Role description
Job Title: Data Business Analyst – Insurance (Contract) Location: London (3 days onsite per week) Duration: Until 30/10/2026 Rate: £490 per day (Inside IR35 - Umbrella) Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Business Data Analyst with strong insurance experience to join our client. You will play a critical role in capturing and interpreting business definitions, rules, and data lineage, and support data warehouse projects to ensure financial reporting and regulatory compliance within the insurance sector. Key Responsibilities: • Capture and interpret business definitions, rules, and lineage, including source-to-target mapping with both business and technical metadata • Write clear user stories, Product Backlog increments, and acceptance criteria • Support financial reporting and regulatory compliance activities • Perform basic SQL querying and prepare presentations and reports using Excel • Collaborate with technical teams on data warehouse and analytics projects Required Experience: • 3–4 years of Delegate Authority (DA) experience • Strong insurance background • Experience in financial reporting and regulatory compliance in insurance • Basic SQL skills, Excel proficiency, and presentation capabilities • Ability to document requirements and work on source-to-target data mapping • Basic knowledge of Azure and Databricks advantageous • Experience working on data warehouse projects Desirable Experience: • Familiarity with Lloyd’s market operations and syndicate structures, especially in Finance or Actuarial functions • Experience with relational and dimensional modelling, including normalization and defining relationships between entities
