The IT Staffs Health & Safety PDO seeks a talented individual to join our dynamic Health & Safety team. This role is crucial for developing and supporting critical applications for our Global Health & Safety Office, including new global reporting and management tools.
Role Summary
The Business Analyst, Data & Information Architect (BDIA) translates business objectives into clear, actionable requirements. This includes comprehensive elicitation, analysis, documentation, and management of functional and non-functional specifications. The BDIA designs and manages project data architecture for efficiency, security, and strategic alignment, bridging business needs with technical data solutions. Additionally, this role supports user experience (UX) and information architecture, by organizing information supporting intuitive navigation, enhanced usability, and accessibility. Ultimately, the BDIA ensures solutions are meticulously defined, meet business goals, and align with user desirability and technical feasibility.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analyst (70%)
β’ Requirements Elicitation & Analysis:
β’ Collaborate with Product Managers, UX/Front-End, and DevOps to translate user needs, workflows, and system requirements (functional/non-functional) into detailed specifications.
β’ Engage business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and validate comprehensive business requirements, identifying underlying needs and optimization opportunities.
β’ Break down high-level epics into granular, actionable user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria.
β’ Analyze current business processes, identify pain points, and create/maintain optimized workflows.
β’ Determine information hierarchies, content flow, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and content models for logical information structuring.
β’ Provide input on intuitive navigation, search functionality, and internal linking to enhance information access.
β’ Contribute to strategic design, aligning digital solutions with user expectations and business objectives.
β’ Support Product Managers with competitive analysis and customer research, structuring data and translating insights into actionable requirements.
β’ Documentation & Specification:
β’ Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including detailed functional specifications, use cases, process flows and data models; contribute to prototypes.
β’ Ensure all requirements documentation is accessible, up-to-date, and aligned with the evolving product vision.
β’ Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration:
β’ Act as the central point for requirements clarification, fostering clear communication between business stakeholders, Product Managers, UX/Design, and engineering teams.
β’ Facilitate workshops and discussions to gather, refine, and resolve ambiguities, ensuring shared understanding.
β’ Support for Development & Testing:
β’ Work closely with engineering teams to clarify requirements and ensure developed features align with specifications.
β’ Collaborate with QA teams to develop robust test cases from defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
β’ Assist the Project Manager, Delivery & Operations with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including scenario definition, progress tracking, and results analysis.
β’ Agile Backlog Refinement:
β’ Actively participate in agile ceremonies, especially backlog refinement, providing detailed insights to ensure a well-groomed, prioritized, and sprint-ready product backlog.
β’ Support the Project Manager, Delivery & Operations in ensuring requirements clarity aids accurate sprint planning and execution.
Data & Information Architect (30%)
β’ Data Architecture and Analysis (MongoDB Focus):
β’ Design, create, structure, and manage application data architecture in MongoDB, ensuring efficiency, security, and alignment with business objectives.
β’ Translate complex business requirements into technical data architecture specifications, including database and data stream design.
β’ Design, manage, and optimize data management systems, creating blueprints for data flow and accessibility.
β’ Ensure data integrity, security, accessibility, and compliance (e.g. Privacy, GDPR).
β’ Identify data sources and formulate a comprehensive data management plan aligned with organizational strategy.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors for smooth enterprise data system functioning.
β’ Manage the end-to-end data architecture lifecycle: platform selection, technical architecture design, application development, testing, and implementation.
β’ Create procedures for data accuracy and accessibility; analyze, plan, and define the data architecture framework (security, reference data, metadata, master data).
β’ Continuously identify process improvements within the product development lifecycle.
β’ Assist Product Managers in analyzing product performance data, user feedback, and operational metrics to inform decisions and measure feature impact.

β’ 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Architect and/or Information Architect in a software development environment and experience within an Agile Product Development Organization (PDO) framework.
β’ Proven ability to elicit, analyze, document, and manage detailed functional and non-functional requirements for complex software solutions.
β’ Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
β’ Proficiency with requirements management and project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, Miro, or similar.
β’ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable business terms and vice-versa.
β’ Superior analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with an acute attention to detail.
β’ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and cross-functional team environment.
