Job Title: Category Space Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Category Space Manager with a strong passion for the industry. This role involves working collaboratively within a team to develop insights, identify opportunities, and communicate recommendations to drive future industry growth to both internal partners and external retail customers. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, consistently aiming to surpass goals and inspire others to achieve more.
Responsibilities
• Build strong relationships with retailers as a trusted Category advisor across all business areas.
• Develop impactful category analyses and consumer insights using a variety of syndicated and non-syndicated data sources.
• Synthesize learnings from various sources to create clear and impactful selling stories using visually appealing PowerPoint presentations.
• Educate internal teammates and external customers on growth opportunities through clear and impactful communications.
• Collaborate with the Sales team to engage external retailer buying teams in defined territories to identify opportunities for category growth.
• Utilize space planning software to effectively merchandise the department according to category and retailer strategy.
Essential Skills
• Strong passion for the industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Moderate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and organization.
• Moderate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint for presentation organization and visualization.
• Ability to understand information, develop insights, and identify opportunities when analyzing large data sets.
• Ability to translate findings and recommendations into concise and effective selling stories.
• Ability to confidently present insights, opportunities, and recommendations to stakeholders in a persuasive manner.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in the consumer packaged goods industry, particularly in the Category or Sales sector.
• Experience with shelf management and planogram creation using JDA, Apollo, etc.
• Strong familiarity with syndicated data, software, and measures such as IRI, Nielsen, etc.
• Familiarity with shopper panel information data, software, and measures like IRI, Nielsen, Numerator, Retailer Loyalty data, etc.
• Experience with dashboarding software such as PowerBI, Qlik, or Spotfire.
• Positive attitude and self-starter mentality.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Team-oriented.
