Role description
Details for the position are as follows:
• Location: Rahway, NJ - Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote.
• 6 month contract to start with the possibility of extension or conversion depending on performance and business needs
• Rate: $55.41 an hour
Job Description:
• As a Data Scientist within the Quantitative Biosciences Department, you will lead statistical analyses and develop data science solutions supporting small molecule and peptide workflows in early drug discovery. You will work with complex datasets generated from cutting-edge, high-throughput experimentation across the organization and apply rigorous computational methods to help scientists generate actionable and impactful hypotheses for target discovery.
• Develop new machine learning workflows, including deep learning approaches, to support the discovery of novel medicines.
• Contribute to property prediction models for small molecules.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary discovery teams to apply informatics and molecular modeling techniques that identify and advance drug discovery leads.
• Conduct research in machine learning and molecular modeling areas relevant to drug discovery.
• Analyze complex biological and chemical datasets to generate actionable insights and support scientific decision-making.
• Communicate analytical findings and recommendations effectively to cross-functional stakeholders.
Required Skills:
• Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Computational Physics, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or another related quantitative field.
• Candidates with a Master’s or PhD in Computational Physics, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or another related quantitative field are also encouraged to apply.
• 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Python for scientific computing (NumPy, PyTorch, etc.).
• Experience with high-performance computing in a Unix/Linux environment and/or familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS.
• Hands-on experience in data science and machine learning.
• Working knowledge of biochemistry and/or chemistry.
