Senior Compute Engineer – Financial Services Hybrid: (2x per week, Cincinnati) Contract: 6 Months (+ extensions) We’re working with a global financial services organization undergoing a major infrastructure transformation. They’re looking for a Senior Compute Engineer to help drive a large-scale compute environment refresh and cut-over, with a focus on VMware optimization, performance tuning, and enterprise-grade infrastructure stability. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in regulated, mission-critical environments and has a proven ability to build and optimize compute platforms that support high-throughput, low-latency applications. Role: • Design, optimize, and implement compute environments across a large VMware estate • Tune performance and manage capacity across Windows and Linux workloads • Support the transition from legacy infrastructure to modern HP compute platforms • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and application teams to ensure end-to-end system reliability • Operate within strict change control and compliance frameworks (e.g., SNOW) • Provide technical leadership on compute-related best practices and risk mitigation Responsibilities: • 10+ years’ experience in compute engineering or virtualization roles • Deep hands-on VMware (vSphere, ESXi, HA/DRS, resource tuning) • Strong experience with both Linux and Windows server environments • Solid understanding of capacity planning, performance diagnostics, and enterprise-scale systems • Previous work in financial services or other regulated, high-availability environments • Comfortable working hybrid from Cincinnati (2 days/week onsite) Nice to Have: • PowerCLI, Ansible, or automation tooling • Experience with HP server infrastructure • Familiarity with cloud compute environments (Azure, AWS) This is a 6 month contract (through end of year, with high chance of extension) in Cincinnati, OH (Hybrid – 2 days/week onsite).
