Responsibilities
Kforce is looking for a Data Analyst for a contract to hire opportunity in Lenexa, KS. This role requires working across stakeholders, including IT, business analysts, and leadership teams, to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and actionable. Responsibilities:
β’ Ingest, transform, and curate data from multiple source systems (ERP, HRIS, project management, CRM, external APIs)
β’ Optimize data storage using OneLake and Fabric Lakehouse concepts for performance and cost efficiency
β’ Implement data modeling practices (star schema, Data Vault, dimensional modeling) aligned to business needs
β’ Ensure smooth data integration with Power BI semantic models and Fabric Warehouse
β’ Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reports in Power BI, using Fabric's Direct Lake mode for real-time analytics
β’ Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to discover trends, patterns, and anomalies
β’ Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into analytical datasets and insights
β’ Provide ad-hoc analysis to support decision-making in operations, finance, safety, and HR
β’ Apply data governance principles (DAMA-DMBOK framework) within Fabric's data management ecosystem
β’ Establish and monitor data quality metrics (completeness, accuracy, timeliness)
β’ Implement security, access, and role-based permissions using Fabric's governance tools
β’ Document data pipelines, transformations, and models for transparency and reuse
β’ Partner with business and IT teams to define KPIs and analytics use cases
β’ Stay current with Microsoft Fabric feature releases and recommend improvements
β’ Provide guidance and training to analysts and business users adopting Fabric and Power BI
β’ Support migration from legacy data warehouse or ETL systems into Fabric
Requirements
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field
β’ 3-5 years of experience in data engineering and/or analytics
β’ Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Dataflows, Data Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, OneLake, Power BI integration)
β’ Strong SQL skills for data modeling, transformations, and performance tuning
β’ Proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M)
β’ Strong understanding of data modeling techniques (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault)
β’ Experience designing semantic models for BI
β’ Strong analytical skills to interpret complex datasets
β’ Ability to balance short-term reporting needs with long-term platform scalability
β’ Knowledge of data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, Microsoft Purview optional)
β’ Familiarity with security, compliance, and data privacy requirements
β’ Industry experience in construction or finance is a plus
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
