Role description
Data Analyst (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid – 2 days onsite/week)
Duration: 6 months C2H
Overview
The Data Analyst supports financial and operational decision-making through data analysis, reporting, and performance tracking. Reporting to the Data & Analytics Manager, this role works closely with business and technical teams to deliver insights that improve strategic and operational outcomes across the organization.
Responsibilities
• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into reporting and analytics solutions
• Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reports for financial, clinical, and operational KPIs
• Perform data analysis to identify trends, correlations, and actionable insights
• Support financial analysis including budget variance tracking and forecasting
• Build and maintain reporting solutions using Power BI and IBM Cognos Analytics
• Extract, manipulate, and analyze data using SQL across multiple systems
• Clean, transform, and validate data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity
• Support development of predictive models and advanced analytics initiatives as needed
• Collaborate with IT and compliance teams to ensure proper data governance and access controls
• Design and promote self-service analytics solutions through interactive dashboards
• Prepare executive-level reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Monitor key performance indicators across departments and surface performance insights
• Identify process improvements and optimize data workflows and reporting standards
• Maintain documentation, reporting logs, and project tracking updates
• Stay current with analytics, BI, and data science best practices
• Support additional projects as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Data Analytics, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction and analysis
• Hands-on experience with Power BI and IBM Cognos Analytics (required)
• Experience with financial reporting, variance analysis, and/or forecasting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to translate complex data into clear business insights
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Healthcare or health plan experience preferred
