Role description
β’ We are hiring a Data Analyst / Developer to join our team. Your main tasks will include Troubleshooting data variances and failures to identify the root cause of issues using the available documentation (STTM). Providing solutions to resolve the issue.
Role Requirements for Data Analyst Position: Provided a comprehensive overview of the data analyst role, emphasizing the need for candidates with strong data analysis skills, hands-on Informatica experience, and the ability to interact with internal stakeholders.
β’ Core Skill Set: Explained that the ideal candidate should possess strong data analysis abilities, be able to read and troubleshoot Informatica code, and effectively communicate with business users to resolve issues and clarify misunderstandings.
β’ Technical and Interpersonal Balance: Highlighted the challenge of finding candidates who are both technically proficient in Informatica and comfortable engaging with stakeholders, noting that many candidates are either strong in coding but reluctant to interact with people, or vice versa.
β’ Production Support Focus: Clarified that the role is primarily focused on supporting existing production code rather than developing new functionality, with responsibilities including identifying and implementing minor code changes and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
β’ Testing Responsibilities: Stated that there is no dedicated test organization, so the candidate is expected to test their own work and understand functionality deeply enough to validate and troubleshoot solutions.
β’ Stakeholder Interaction: Confirmed that all stakeholders are internal, and the candidate will need to communicate directly with business users to understand and resolve data-related issues.
Desired Experience and Technical Environment: Detailed the technical environment (Informatica on AWS S3) and clarified expectations regarding the recency and depth of Informatica experience required for the role.
β’ Development vs. Analysis Split: Specified that the role is weighted towards Analysis (approximately 65-70%) with the remaining 30-35% involving Informatica Development or Code tweaking, emphasizing the need for candidates who can navigate and modify Informatica code as needed.
β’ Cloud and AWS Experience: Explained that while the data resides on AWS S3 and the infrastructure is cloud-based, the core requirement is proficiency in Informatica, with AWS familiarity considered beneficial but not essential.
β’ Recency and Hands-On Informatica Experience: Clarified that candidates must have recent, hands-on Informatica experience, as the role requires immediate ability to read, troubleshoot, and explain Informatica code without significant ramp-up time.
Team Structure and Supervision: Clarified the reporting structure in response to questions, explaining that the candidate will work under a product owner who manages day-to-day activities.
β’ Supervision and Oversight: Stated that the product owner is responsible for daily supervision and team management, while Richard's involvement is limited to administrative tasks such as signing time sheets.
Data Analyst Responsibilities:
β’ Analyze complex requirements by reading STTMs and apply the knowledge to troubleshoot failures in a production environment.
β’ Propose solutions to resolve the analyzed problem/issue.
β’ Write scripts to correct data (data corrections) and coordinate with the technical team members to ensure the change is delivered to production.
β’ Verify changes and certify the data after the data correction is implemented.
β’ Articulate technology solutions, in consultations with the Systems Analyst or Tech Lead and requirements to diverse internal/external stakeholders, integrating process, business rules, and data to meet business needs.
β’ Data-driven, results-oriented with the ability to quickly analyze data and make decisions that drive performance.
β’ Understanding of Data Lineage, source to target mapping, documenting the data elements accurately is strongly needed.
β’ Conducting meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
β’ Documenting and communicating the results of data and business requirements.
β’ Effectively communicating your insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
β’ Managing competing resources and priorities.
β’ Should be able to complete task with minimum supervision.
