Role description
The Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Engineer/Designer is a critical role responsible for overseeing the successful design of complex security projects from inception to completion. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and a deep understanding of security systems and technologies. Key Responsibilities • Project Management: • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and timelines. • Track project progress and identify potential risks and issues • Proactively address challenges and implement solutions. • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution. • Effectively oversee project closeouts and lessons learned • Manage project budgets and resources effectively. • Technical Expertise: • Possess a strong understanding of security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and fire alarm systems. • Review and approve design packages, ensuring adherence to industry standards and client requirements. • Coordinate with design teams to develop accurate and detailed design documentation. • Oversee the selection and procurement of appropriate equipment and materials. • Ability to explain and enforce application of security standards to other stakeholders • Create security design packages, ensuring all designs comply with industry, federal, state, and local codes (e.g., NFPA) and client requirements. • Utilize working knowledge of CAD and BlueBeam to develop and review design documentation. • Client Relationship Management: • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and expectations. • Proactively address client concerns and resolve issues. • Ability to attend and communicate in weekly stakeholder meetings • Conduct monthly meetings to report projects' progress and statuses with leadership • Team Leadership: • Mentor and guide team members to ensure optimal performance. • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment. • Delegate tasks effectively and monitor team progress. • Manage a trusted environment to foster productivity and value • Quality Assurance: • Implement quality control measures to ensure project deliverables meet high standards. • Conduct regular quality assurance reviews and audits. • Identify and address quality issues promptly. Qualifications • Proven experience in project management, specifically within the physical security or low-voltage systems industry. • In-depth technical knowledge of security systems (ACS, SVS, Intrusion Detection, Fire Alarm). • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws, as well as life safety and fire codes. • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. • Proficiency with project management software (e.g., SmartSheets, Google Suite) and design tools (e.g., iBwave) • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Additional Skills (Preferred) • Professional certifications such as iBwave, PMP, CPP, or CSPM. • Knowledge of LEED and CPTED principles. • Experience in the construction and facility management industries. • Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold the firm’s respectful and courteous work environment. • Effective communication and collaboration skills The Security Designer is a critical role responsible for leading complex security projects from design and inception through to successful completion.
