Job Description
We are looking for a highly experienced Data Governance Consultant (10+ years) to lead enterprise-level data governance and compliance initiatives. The consultant will drive data quality, metadata management, and governance across APIs, data models, and event-driven systems in a regulated financial services environment.
Primary Skill Set (Mandatory)
Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field.
10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or enterprise data architecture.
Strong understanding of API governance, lifecycle, and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger, REST, GraphQL).
Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka).
In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM.
Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, SOX, etc.).
Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; proficient in Excel, SQL, and data analysis tools.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams.
Preferred Skill Set
Experience in financial services or other regulated industries.
Hands-on with data catalog and governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica).
Familiarity with API/event management platforms (Apigee, Kafka, MuleSoft).
Relevant certifications in data governance, data management, or compliance (e.g., CDMP, DCAM).
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Lead reviews of data models, APIs, and events to ensure compliance with governance standards.
Oversee metadata, schema, and lineage documentation for governed assets.
Partner with business, architecture, and technology teams to enforce consistent governance practices.
Develop and maintain data governance policies, controls, and quality standards.
Deliver governance metrics, reports, and dashboards for leadership visibility.
Drive training, awareness, and adoption of enterprise data governance best practices.
