Role description
A major enterprise organisation is looking for an experienced Data Governance Consultant to support a high-priority remediation initiative across several transformation workstreams. This role suits someone who enjoys untangling complex data issues, improving business processes, and influencing senior stakeholders to drive meaningful change.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for strengthening data governance foundations, resolving problem areas, and guiding teams toward more consistent, reliable and efficient data practices. Your work will span diagnostic analysis, hands-on remediation activities, and strategic input into governance and change-focused conversations.
What You’ll Be Doing
Insight & Problem Discovery
• Investigating data flows and business processes to uncover sources of errors, inefficiencies or manual interventions.
• Identifying breakdown points in processes and presenting clear opportunities to improve or simplify them.
• Creating structured assessments that explain issues, impacts, and recommended actions.
Remediation & Delivery
• Designing and delivering targeted fixes across dedicated workstreams within a wider transformation programme.
• Enhancing data foundations through clarifying lineage, improving definitions, resolving inconsistencies, and aligning data responsibilities.
• Working closely with technical and business teams to ensure corrective actions are realistic, measurable, and adopted successfully.
Governance & Stakeholder Alignment
• Acting as a trusted advisor to help shape approaches to governance, change, and cross-team alignment.
• Supporting collaboration between business areas to reinforce consistent data standards and decision-making.
• Contributing to the development of governance practices, controls and frameworks.
What You Bring
• Strong background in Data Governance, Data Quality, or Data Management roles within complex environments.
• Proven ability to pinpoint root causes in both data and business processes.
• Hands-on experience resolving issues related to lineage, ownership, metadata, or process failures.
• Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and balancing technical detail with business needs.
• Experience working on large transformation or data-focused programmes.
