Role description
The Design Engineer will support the planning, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure across both physical and virtual appliances, contributing to the delivery of scalable, secure, and resilient systems. This hands-on role involves working on data center relocation, virtualization platforms, and automation frameworks, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with business and operational goals.
Responsibilities
β’ Maintain a strong understanding of infrastructure componentsβincluding Windows/Linux servers, SAN storage, and Cisco UCS compute platformsβto ensure design and build activities align with operational standards
β’ Participate in data center relocation and migration projects, ensuring seamless transition and minimal service disruption across environments.
β’ Implement and maintain VSI/PSI VMware solutions, including ESX/VSphere environments, with a focus on performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
β’ Develop and execute automation workflows using Ansible, PowerShell, and other scripting tools to streamline provisioning, configuration, and maintenance tasks (e.g., disk expansion, server builds, automated rightsizing).
β’ Review and contribute to technical architecture documents, ensuring infrastructure designs meet operational standards and support long-term scalability.
β’ Leverage tools such as Aria Operations, BigFix, and Datadog to analyze resource utilization and perform compute rightsizing, ensuring optimal performance and efficient consumption of infrastructure resources
β’ Collaborate with internal engineering, application, and operations teams, as well as external vendors, to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware/software issues.
β’ Maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure design, configuration, installation procedures, operational workflows, and knowledge base articles.
β’ Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to support continuous improvement and innovation in infrastructure design and delivery.
Qualifications
β’ Minimum 5 years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering, preferably within enterprise-level data centers or large-scale environments.
β’ Strong technical expertise in VMware virtualization, Cisco UCS, Windows Server, Linux-based systems, and SAN technologies.
β’ Experience with Aria Operations, Aria Automation, and integration with ServiceNow for incident and change management.
β’ Demonstrated competency with automation and configuration tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, and BigFix, with the ability to interpret and utilize existing scripts to support build activities, provisioning, and configuration tasks.
β’ Solid understanding of infrastructure implementation at scale, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and fault tolerance.
β’ Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
