Role description
Lead Cloud Data Engineer – Permanent – Remote – $130,000-160,000 annually
The final salary or hourly wage, as applicable, paid to each candidate/applicant for this position is ultimately dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s/applicant’s qualifications, skills, and level of experience as well as the geographical location of the position.

Our client is seeking a Remote Lead Cloud Data Engineer.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a lead data engineer highly collaborative and comfortable with ambiguity and change in a fast-paced environment to partner closely with various teams to design, build and maintain data systems and applications. Must be a self-starter and highly organized with strong problem-solving and learning skills to work with various teams analyze and design data storage structures and build performant automated data pipelines that are reliable and scalable in a fast growing data ecosystem. Leverage strong understanding of data modeling principles and modern data platforms to properly design and implement data pipeline solutions. Experience using analytic SQL, working with traditional relational databases and/or distributed systems such as AWS S3, Hadoop / Hive, Redshift. Provide production support and adhering to the defined SLA(s). Strong technical skills and demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented. Good understanding of data security, compliance, and policies in healthcare services. Demonstrated ability to test and validate according to industry best practices and to communicate effectively with peers in technology teams. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with ability to work with all levels of the organization.
Skills & Requirements
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering and end-to-end automation of data pipelines in large enterprise environments (8+ years with Master’s degree)
• Must have experience leading projects
• Healthcare industry experience required
• Requires strong data warehousing experience with SQL and Python
• Desired technologies: Snowflake, DBT Cloud, GitLab, PySpark, Serverless EMR, Airflow, Terraform, AWS (S3, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, DynamoDB, RDS), GCP
• Experience designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and automated data pipelines, including production support and troubleshooting in complex data ecosystems
• Strong understanding of data modeling principles, including Data Vault 2.0 and Dimensional Modeling
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless frameworks
• Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and healthcare policies, including HIPAA and PHI handling
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
