About the Role
Weβre seeking an experienced AWS Engineer to support ongoing maintenance, optimization, and modernization of our cloud infrastructure. This role focuses on addressing end-of-life (EOL) component issues, improving system performance, and identifying security enhancements across our AWS environment. This person would also help us with growing initiatives such as AI and Machine Learning projects, and best practices surrounding image, photo and video optimization, storage and serving.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in AWS architecture, DevOps practices, and cloud security best practices, with a proven ability to work independently and deliver measurable improvements in uptime, reliability, and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate also has a background in AI in relation to image recognition and model training, image/photo optimization/storage/delivery.
Responsibilities
Audit current AWS infrastructure to identify and resolve end-of-life or deprecated services, libraries, and dependencies.
Optimize cloud performance, reliability, and cost efficiency (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, etc.).
Implement or recommend security improvements, including IAM policy reviews, encryption, and compliance best practices.
Suggest and execute infrastructure upgrades or modernization initiatives (e.g., migrating to newer AWS services).
Work to optimize and improve our image storage and serving.
Work to help us grow our AI initiatives in a scalable and long term way.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to schedule and deploy updates with minimal downtime.
Maintain clear documentation of system changes, configurations, and recommendations.
Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on experience managing AWS environments in production.
Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFormation/Terraform, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.).
2+ years experience with AI and Machine learning, specifically around image recognition and model training.
Experience addressing end-of-life system components and performing upgrades.
Proficiency in cloud performance tuning and cost optimization.
Solid understanding of AWS security and compliance best practices.
Familiarity with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear, actionable recommendations.
Nice to Have
AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer certification.
Experience with containerization (ECS, EKS, Docker).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, Jenkins).
