Role description
Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Power BI Report Writer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing, designing, and maintaining business intelligence (BI) solutions that empower stakeholders with actionable insights. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a solid understanding of data visualization principles, and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful, easy-to-understand reports. Key Responsibilities Report & Dashboard Development: • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI reports and dashboards to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) and data trends. Requirements Gathering: • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand data and reporting needs. • Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. Data Preparation & Modeling: • Connect to, extract, transform, and load data from various sources (e.g., SQL databases, Excel, and cloud systems) using Power Query. • Design and optimize data models to ensure efficient, accurate, and scalable reporting. Data Analysis & Accuracy: • Validate and analyze data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reports and data sources. DAX Formulation: • Develop and optimize Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) measures and calculations to enhance reporting capabilities and support complex analysis. Troubleshooting & Optimization: • Diagnose and resolve data issues, report errors, and performance bottlenecks. • Implement improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and reliability. Documentation & Training: • Create and maintain technical and user documentation for reports, datasets, and BI processes. • Provide training and support to end-users to promote data-driven decision-making. Process Improvement: • Continuously assess and refine reporting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility. Qualifications Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent work experience. Experience: • Proven experience in report writing and data analysis, with significant hands-on experience using Microsoft Power BI. • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI (Power Query, Power Pivot, DAX, and visualizations). • Strong experience with SQL for data extraction and querying. • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes. • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and related functions). Preferred Qualifications: • Experience integrating Power BI with SharePoint for collaboration and data access. • Exposure to Tyler Technologies Enterprise ERP or similar enterprise systems.
