Role description
📍 Remote (UK-based) | 💰 Up to £500/day (Inside IR35) | 📅 Contract
We’re looking for a Software Engineer who cares about clean, maintainable code and enjoys working in a collaborative, engineering-led environment.
What you’ll be doing
• Building and maintaining web applications using Python/Django and Next.js/TypeScript
• Designing and implementing REST APIs that are reliable and easy to work with
• Working with AWS and Terraform to support and evolve our infrastructure
• Setting up and improving CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
• Collaborating closely with other engineers through pairing/mobbing, code reviews and shared ownership of quality
Essential Behaviours
These are the things that matter most to us:
• A passion for engineering and a desire to keep learning
• A focus on writing clear, concise code that is easy to maintain
• The ability to be pragmatic and avoid unnecessary “gold-plating”
• An understanding that quality is everyone’s responsibility, with a strong desire to test your own code
• Comfortable working with others in pairing or mobbing scenarios
• A good communicator who shares our values of openness and respect
Essential Skills
You should have experience with:
• Python, specifically the Django framework
• Next.js and TypeScript, with Tailwind CSS for styling
• Designing and writing APIs, especially REST APIs
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
• Working with AWS
• Terraform for infrastructure as code
Desirable Skills
These are the cherry-on-top extras – great if you have them, but not a deal-breaker if you don’t:
• Experience with Wagtail CMS
• Experience with FastAPI
• Experience working in the public sector
• Experience working in a technology or consulting company
Contract Details
• 📍 Location: Remote (UK-based)
• 💰 Rate: Up to £500 per day
• ⚖️ Status: Inside IR35
• ⏱️ Start date: ASAP (flexible for the right person)
