Role description
Location: Remote - EDT/EST (US eastern time zone)
Duration: 6 months + extensions/conversion to full time
Requirements:
• 5-7+ years in data science with hands-on experience building ML models from scratch
• 2+ years of recent experience in the healthcare domain (required for this role)
• Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL
• Experience leveraging AI coding assistants (Claude Code preferred)
• Strong understanding of statistical modeling and machine learning principles
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with Medicare or senior population datasets
• Experience in GCP / BigQuery environments
• Exposure to recommendation systems or provider matching algorithms
Overview
A Fortune 10 healthcare customer seeking a Senior Data Scientist to build a new version of a provider recommendation engine from the ground up, specifically tailored to the Medicare population (65+). This role will focus on applying healthcare domain expertise to develop models that identify optimal providers based on quality of care, patient history, and outcomes. This role requires someone who deeply understands healthcare data and can translate business problems into scalable data science solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and build new machine learning models from scratch for provider recommendation systems
• Apply healthcare domain knowledge to tailor solutions for Medicare populations
• Develop end-to-end data pipelines for model training, evaluation, and deployment
• Work with healthcare and claims data to generate insights and drive decision-making
• Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Utilize AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) while ensuring accuracy and model integrity
• Ensure statistical rigor and validity in all models developed
Compensation: $62-70/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
