Tandem Developer / HP NonStop Developer

We are seeking an experienced Tandem (HP NonStop) Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade batch and online transaction processing systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with Tandem COBOL, TACL, Enscribe, and SQL/MP, and be capable of analyzing, modernizing, and optimizing mission-critical applications that support high availability and performance. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain applications on the Tandem (HP NonStop) platform. • Write, test, and debug code using COBOL, TACL, and related Tandem utilities. • Develop and support batch and online transaction processing (OLTP) systems. • Collaborate with business analysts and project managers to translate requirements into technical solutions. • Conduct unit, integration, and system testing to ensure reliability and compliance with standards. • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies. • Provide technical support, perform maintenance, and handle production issue resolutions. • Participate in on-call rotations and collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure system stability. • Contribute to modernization and migration of legacy Tandem applications where applicable. Required Skills & Qualifications: • 5+ years of experience in Tandem (HP NonStop) application development. • Proficiency in COBOL, TACL, Enscribe, and SQL/MP. • Strong understanding of Pathway, TMF, and Guardian utilities. • Experience in batch processing, OLTP systems, and system performance tuning. • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience modernizing or integrating legacy Tandem systems with modern architectures. • Exposure to Agile / Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices. • Knowledge of insurance, finance, or payments domain applications. • Relevant certifications in Tandem / HP NonStop technologies.
