JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Technical Business Analyst to join our Valuation IT team. This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in valuation platforms and a strong background in business analysis, project management, and solution architecture. In addition to the support and maintenance of our current valuation platform, the successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of a new, custom platform for the Valuation and Asset Management teams. This is a unique opportunity to build a platform from the ground up.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
BUSINESS ANALYSIS
β’ Gain a deep understanding of the valuations teamβs responsibilities, business processes, and role within the broader firm, and how these translate into our IT processes, logic, data sources, and integrated application landscape.
β’ Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, processes, workflows, and data models as we build a new valuation platform.
β’ Translate business requirements into functional and technical requirements for delivery within agile and/or hybrid model.
β’ Write, review, and enrich user stories and epics as needed to support backlog refinement and grooming.
β’ Dive into our data, reviewing existing stored procedures, design data migration plans, and test/validate data migration.
β’ Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams.
β’ Support the current valuation tool, by troubleshooting with the Support team and coordinating with the software vendor to build and test product enhancements on Fortressβ implementation.
β’ Provide ongoing support and enhancements to existing valuation systems.
β’ Monitor data quality metrics and implement remediation strategies.
β’ Clearly and concisely communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Train business users by preparing guides, materials, and hosting training sessions.

β’ Establish and maintain effective relationships with business and technology partners.
β’ Proactively ask questions about the requirements or businessβ needs.
β’ Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
β’ Bachelorβs degree in finance, economics, computer science, or another relevant field
β’ Masterβs degree is a plus
EXPERIENCE
β’ 10+ years as technical business analyst at a hedge fund, private equity shop, or other financial services firm with a focus on pricing tools, portfolio management tools, and/or valuations tools.
β’ In-depth knowledge of valuation core concepts, processes, and data sources.
β’ Well versed in project management and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
β’ Understanding of Agile principles, Scrum ceremonies, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and velocity tracking.
β’ Experience with RESTful APIs, data flows, and system integration concepts to support technical discussions and solution design.
β’ Experience writing SQL queries for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
β’ Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio or equivalent.
β’ Experience with large data sets, including analysis, transformations, and comparisons; familiarity with Power BI as a reporting tool is a plus.
β’ Proficiency in modeling business processes (e.g., BPMN) and analyzing data using SQL, Excel, or BI tools to support decision-making.
β’ Direct experience with Azure DevOps/Boards
β’ Experience with Agile principles, Scrum ceremonies, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and velocity tracking.
CERTIFICATIONS & DOMAIN KNOWLEDGE
β’ Strong understanding of alternative investments, including private credit, structured products, hedge funds, and derivatives.
β’ Professional Scrum Product Owner or Scrum Master Certifications is a plus.
