Role description
Job Title: Analyst Job Description The Analyst will manage large data sets, perform detailed data analysis, and produce accurate reports using Excel and related tools. This role supports core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll assistance, and month-end reconciliations. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing, highly technical organization that operates at the forefront of advanced defense technologies while working closely with a small, experienced, and collaborative accounting team. Responsibilities • Manage large data sets and develop, maintain, and pull detailed reports using Excel and other reporting tools. • Perform data analysis to support accounting, finance, and operational decision-making. • Assist with accounts payable activities, including data entry, invoice processing, and expense reporting. • Collaborate with the purchasing team to ensure timely and accurate invoice processing. • Support accounts receivable processes as needed, including billing-related activities. • Assist with payroll-related tasks and employee management activities using third-party payroll systems when required. • Communicate directly with vendors regarding invoices, delivery status, payments, and tax documentation. • Support billing processes and month-end reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. • Use reconciliation skills to verify the accuracy and completeness of financial data. • Leverage Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, Power Query, and large data set management, to improve reporting and efficiency. • Work with accounting leadership and team members in a highly collaborative environment, providing support on various accounting and reporting tasks. • Engage in face-to-face interactions with internal stakeholders who approach accounting with timesheet, PTO balance, and payroll questions. • Contribute to a culture of excellence, reliability, and continuous improvement within the accounting function. • Adapt to evolving responsibilities in a growing organization and support long-term company objectives. Essential Skills • Associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, business, or a related field. • Strong Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, Power Query, and experience working with large data sets. • Hands-on experience with data analysis and report creation. • Experience with reconciliations, particularly in an accounting or finance environment. • Foundational knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. • Ability to support payroll-related activities using third-party payroll processing software. • Familiarity with GAAP concepts and their application in day-to-day accounting tasks. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with financial and operational data. • Effective verbal and written communication skills for vendor and internal stakeholder interactions. • Ability to work collaboratively within a small, highly engaged accounting team. • Comfort with frequent face-to-face interaction and providing approachable, service-oriented support to employees. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Knowledge of Paylocity, UKG, or other third-party payroll processing software. • Experience with employee management and payroll processes in systems such as Paylocity or UKG. • Knowledge of SharePoint for document management and collaboration. • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP/accounting systems. • Experience using Power BI for data visualization and reporting. • Experience with 1099 processing and related tax documentation is beneficial. • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools beyond Excel, including Outlook and Word. • Desire for personal growth and alignment with long-term company objectives. • Ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment with a high volume of work and evolving priorities. • Comfort working in a technically advanced, defense-focused organization with a strong culture of excellence. Work Environment This is an onsite role at a secure facility with limited flexibility for remote work. Team members are expected to be on site, with reasonable flexibility for personal needs such as medical or family appointments. The accounting team is small, highly collaborative, and very tenured, providing a supportive environment where team members share knowledge and work closely together.
