We do all we can to further the mission of our partners because their guests and the communities they serve, deserve it.
Position Title: Business Analyst, Admissions
Job Description:
We’re looking for a Business Analyst who turns data into strategic insight — performing data discovery, analysis and modeling to translate member/guest behavior, sales and attendance trends into clear, actionable recommendations. Beyond building dashboards, this role will identify pricing opportunities, forecast revenue impacts, influence collaborators across business lines, and perform detailed analyses to recommend ticket pricing, product offerings and operational changes that drive short and long-term financial success. The analyst will also troubleshoot revenue/reporting discrepancies, produce stakeholder ready metric packs and support cross functional initiatives. Understanding business needs and adding impact through actionable analytics to shape the experiences we offer our guests will be critical to the success of this role.
This role can positively impact some of the coolest cultural attractions on the planet, and help support our partners’ mission of sustainability, conservation and animal welfare education.
Responsibilities may consist of (but not limited to):
• Produce, maintain and distribute recurring and ad‑hoc reports, dashboards and visualizations (Power BI, Excel, slide decks) that clearly communicate sales, admissions and revenue performance to operational and executive stakeholders (e.g., weekly metric packs, monthly outlooks).
• Build and maintain forecasting, scenario and financial models (pricing, structure, volume, promotional analyses) that quantify business impact and deliver recommendations.
• Develop and maintain analytical tools, performance measurements and reporting frameworks that improve forecasting, planning and profitability.
• Monitor KPIs and program effectiveness continuously; surface trends, anomalies and opportunities, and recommend data‑informed adjustments to optimize revenue and guest experience.
• Translate complex data findings into concise, stakeholder‑ready narratives and presentations tailored to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Partner with stakeholders to gather and clarify business requirements, distinguish requests from true needs, and align teams on objectives and success metrics.
• Read and validate report logic and source data (queries, stored procedure outputs, SSRS RDLs); document metric definitions, assumptions and acceptance criteria.
• Perform data discovery, cleansing, validation and root cause troubleshooting to ensure report accuracy and resolve sales/revenue discrepancies used in financial processes.
• Ensure pricing/system configuration accuracy and overall data integrity; coordinate with technical teams to implement fixes, track changes, and document impacts.
• Manage incoming reporting and analytic requests: triage, prioritize against stakeholder SLAs, and communicate delivery timelines and tradeoffs.
• Create and deliver stakeholder training and handoffs for reports, dashboards and documented metrics to promote consistent use.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, analytics, or a related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven experience in business analytics, reporting, or data analysis with strong curiosity, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.
• Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables, scenario modeling and charts) and experience building/maintaining financial or forecasting models.
• Data fluency: able to read and validate SQL queries / stored procedure outputs and retrieve data from BI platforms or cloud warehouses (Power BI, Snowflake, Azure); heavy production SQL development not required.
• Strong business acumen for revenue analysis: forecasting, scenario analysis, KPI tracking and trend/variance interpretation.
• Familiarity with ticketing / POS or CRM systems and integrations with accounting/financial systems.
• Experience or knowledge of the Hospitality/Tourism/Travel industry (preferred).
• Ability to travel up to 15% of the calendar year, which may include weekends and holidays.
Core Competencies:
• Strategic Thinking & Vision: Able to see and communicate the big picture, leveraging data and insights to identify opportunities, risks, and strategies for growth.
• Problem-Solving & Data-Driven Decision Making: Expertise in developing frameworks to analyze business problems, mine data, develop hypotheses, and deliver actionable recommendations to optimize strategy.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to identify and address key details that could impact project outcomes, ensuring nothing critical is overlooked.
• Data Storytelling: Translates complex analyses into concise effective stories through analytics that will enhance and determine business decisions; influences decisions with clarity.
• Initiative & Adaptability: Self-starter who proactively identifies improvements, adapts to shifting priorities, and manages multiple requests under tight timelines.
• Task Coordination & Efficiency: Proven ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and working productively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
• Execution & Efficiency: Organizes work, meets deadlines, and produces high quality deliverables with minimal rework.
• Endurance & Tenacity: Displays a strong willingness to persevere and complete tasks, even under challenging circumstances, showing determination in delivering results.
• Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Ability to maintain professionalism and diplomacy when engaging with customers and stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
• Teamwork & Collaboration: Strong collaborator who works well across teams, fostering a cooperative environment with a passion to solve problems and make clients successful.
