Customer Solutions Engineer (Level 5) Sunnyvale, CA (Fully On-Site) 12-Month Contract About the Role We are seeking a highly technical Customer Solutions Engineer to support Agentic Commerce integrations powered by Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP). This is an engineering-focused role β€” not a TAM or support liaison position β€” centered on enabling complex partner integrations and shaping a rapidly evolving product space. The ideal candidate combines strong API expertise, system design depth, and hands-on debugging skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to drive scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities Partner Integration & Architecture β€’ Lead high-touch technical integrations for large and complex partners (e.g., Wayfair, Etsy) β€’ Conduct virtual architecture workshops to ensure UCP aligns with partner system design β€’ Guide developers through UCP.dev specifications and validate integrations within Clients’ Merchant Center Technical Debugging & Engineering β€’ Debug REST API and JSON errors using internal logs and troubleshooting tools β€’ Identify, escalate, and help resolve integration-related bugs with internal Engineering teams β€’ Maintain a balanced focus on coding (approx. 50%) and deep technical troubleshooting (approx. 50%) β€’ Support JavaScript-based implementations and JSON configuration management Product Advocacy & Cross-Functional Execution β€’ Partner with Product and Engineering to advocate for feature improvements and drive bug resolution β€’ Translate partner feedback into structured product insights β€’ Support scalable integration models across enterprise, mid-market, and SMB clients Project Management & Documentation β€’ Lead implementation reviews and manage complex integration rollouts β€’ Create and maintain internal and external documentation for partner workflows and best practices β€’ Track milestones, risks, and technical dependencies across workstreams Data & Optimization β€’ Analyze integration performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities β€’ Build dashboards or structured reporting views as needed to support decision-making Required Qualifications Technical Expertise β€’ Strong proficiency in REST APIs, API integrations, and JSON debugging β€’ Hands-on coding experience (JavaScript preferred) with ability to review logs and manage structured data β€’ Deep understanding of system design and architecture patterns β€’ Familiarity with Merchant Center β€’ Experience with LLM agents, A2A (Agent-to-Agent) protocols, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) Professional Experience β€’ 4–5+ years of relevant experience for Level 5 (open to up to 10–12 years for senior candidates) β€’ Experience working with complex eCommerce, transaction, or payment systems preferred Core Competencies β€’ Strong technical problem-solving and debugging mindset β€’ Proactive self-starter with ownership mentality β€’ Cross-functional collaboration and project management skills β€’ Ability to engage with stakeholders across engineering, product, and business teams β€’ Strong business acumen and ability to translate technical complexity into scalable solutions Important Notes β€’ This role requires an Engineer with strong technical depth β€” Technical Account Managers (TAMs) are not a fit. β€’ Candidates with deep Agentic AI/LLM integration experience will be strongly considered, even without extensive retail background. β€’ The role supports partners across the full spectrum β€” enterprise to SMB β€” requiring architectural adaptability and solution scalability.
