About The Role
As an AI Builder at InMarket, you will design and build internal AI-powered software that simplifies, automates, and scales workflows across the entire organization. You'll work close to the business, embedding with teams across operations, data, product, and engineering to turn messy, manual processes into clean, reliable systems.
This is a high-velocity, hands-on role for a pragmatic builder with direct exposure to founder-level leadership who sets priorities and grades impact. You'll start by securing quick wins on well-scoped internal problems, then progress toward larger-scale, higher-impact initiatives leading AI deployment for a key area of the business.
At InMarket, AI is the default way of working, and we care less about where you come from than about what you've built with it. Strong candidates come from a software engineering background or from a business domain (finance, marketing, operations), where they've rebuilt a real workflow around AI.
This role is a great fit if you're looking at AI transformation and figuring out how it actually drives business value, playing with the latest tools, building things for fun, and are hungry to show what you can do at the highest levels of a fast-growing company.
Core Areas of Responsibility
β’ Full-Lifecycle Engineering
β’ Own the end-to-end lifecycle of internal tools, from initial discovery, design, and rapid prototyping through launch, iteration, and transition to steady-state ownership.
β’ Design and build scalable, AI-enabled systems and services that automate repetitive tasks and optimize complex workflows.
β’ Modernize technical debt by converting ad-hoc scripts and notebook-driven processes into robust, maintainable, well-documented production software.
β’ Harden and validate solutions to ensure they meet rigorous standards for reliability, security, and scalability.
β’ Strategic Collaboration
β’ Embed with internal teams to identify friction points and translate business requirements into technical designs that reduce operational risk.
β’ Partner with Product, Data, and Engineering to ensure internal solutions align with the broader company roadmap and architectural standards.
β’ Manage stakeholders by setting clear expectations, communicating progress, and facilitating tight feedback loops that drive continuous improvement.
β’ Enablement & Operational Excellence
β’ Drive adoption through hands-on enablement for new system rollouts.
β’ Standardize documentation β system architectures, operational playbooks, and handoff plans β to ensure long-term stability and ease of use.
β’ Share incremental wins transparently with the broader team to build momentum and surface what's working.
Impact and Success Indicators
β’ Where you'll make an impact in the first 90 days:
β’ Demonstrate the judgment to know when AI provides genuine leverage and when traditional, deterministic software is the right call.
β’ Independently write, test, and ship functional solutions and prototypes with agile practices.
β’ Turn vague, amorphous stakeholder requests into clear requirements and working MVPs, validated directly with the people who'll use them.
β’ Identify and automate repetitive, process-heavy workflows, surfacing risks and blockers early with a proposed resolution rather than waiting.
β’ Identify and build relationships with key cross-functional partners so you can unblock yourself independently.
β’ Where you'll make an impact in the first year:
β’ Move from quick wins to larger-scale internal pain points and proofs of concept for client-facing products, delivering production-grade solutions with high technical rigor.
β’ Convert ad hoc scripts and notebooks into maintainable, thoroughly documented software that the team can own over the long term.
β’ Build the velocity, ownership, and product instinct to lead AI initiatives under an executive leader.
What We're Looking For
β’ A self-starting, entrepreneurial builder's instinct. You ship things for fun, unprompted, and outside of work, with a high level of ownership and minimal need for micromanagement.
β’ AI is your default way of working with proven fluency with AI-native IDEs (e.g., Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code) and LLMs to accelerate development and automate complex workflows, whether your background is engineering or a business domain you've rebuilt around AI. You move fluently between tools and have a clear sense of where to deploy AI and how to manage and verify its output.
β’ Strong software engineering fundamentals, or a demonstrated ability to ship production-grade software through AI-augmented tooling. Ideally, you've built both with and without AI.
β’ A solid understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases, data modeling, and structured data management.
β’ A "progress over perfection" mindset, you ship fast, identify patterns, evaluate trade-offs, and prioritize high-impact solutions; 80% awesome and shipped beats perfect and late.
β’ The ability to make progress on under-specified problems; you ask the right clarifying questions, make your assumptions explicit, and ship a first version rather than stalling for a perfect brief, with strong analytical debugging skills to reason through complex system failures.
β’ An obstacle-navigator's approach. When you encounter a skill gap, you start searching for a solution rather than making an excuse.
β’ Strong stakeholder management: you set clear expectations, communicate progress without prompting, and can work with a non-technical stakeholder who can't yet articulate what they want, translating ambiguity into structure.
β’ The courage to speak up; you voice constructive feedback directly
β’ Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, and experience working in fast-moving teams where iterative feedback and flexibility are key.
β’ Low ego and a team-first attitude; genuine curiosity and a desire to understand things deeply before and after building.
Preferred
β’ Hands-on experience with LLM orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, or similar).
β’ Experience in Node.js and/or Python and SQL, with a track record of building internal tools, services, and robust automations.
β’ Experience building internal platforms or operational tooling with AI.
β’ Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Compensation & Benefits
The Targeted Base Salary Range for this role is $90,000 - $100,000.
Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, work experience, specialized skills and training, performance in the role, business needs, and job requirements. Base salary is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
β’ Talented co-workers and management
β’ Agile Development Program (For continued learning/professional development
