AI Developer

ROMTech is seeking an experienced AI Developer (Contract) to assist in building and deploying AI systems across the organization. This role will focus on developing internal and external AI-powered solutions, including chatbots, AI agents, and intelligent automation, to support business operations, customer engagement, and clinical workflows. This is a hands-on contract role ideal for an independent professional who can move quickly from concept to production while working within security- and compliance-conscious environments. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy AI systems companywide on a contract basis, including: Internal AI assistants for employees External customer-facing chatbots AI agents and intelligent automation workflows Integrate AI solutions with existing platforms, APIs, databases, and enterprise systems Build LLM-powered applications using modern AI frameworks and platforms Implement prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent-based architectures Ensure AI solutions adhere to security, privacy, and compliance requirements (HIPAA and data protection standards where applicable) Collaborate with internal stakeholders across IT, Engineering, Product, Compliance, and business teams Monitor and optimize AI system performance, reliability, and accuracy Document AI workflows, configurations, and best practices Evaluate and recommend AI tools and technologies aligned with ROMTech’s goals Qualifications Required Proven experience as an AI Developer, Software Engineer, or similar role (contract or full-time) Strong proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications (chatbots, agents, automation) Experience working with LLM platforms (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) Experience integrating APIs, cloud services, and data sources Ability to work independently in a contract environment and manage deliverables Preferred Experience supporting healthcare, health tech, or regulated environments Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and search technologies Experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar Knowledge of HIPAA, data privacy, and security best practices Prior experience delivering production AI systems on a contract basis
