Job Title: AI Digital Twin Engineer – Healthcare Modeling Location: Remote Duration:6 months Contract About BigRio: BigRio is a Boston-based technology consulting firm that empowers organizations to drive innovation through advanced data, AI/ML, and digital transformation strategies. With deep roots in healthcare, life sciences, and enterprise AI, our elite teams deliver cutting-edge solutions for the world’s most complex challenges. We are currently seeking an AI Digital Twin Engineer to lead digital twin modeling initiatives for healthcare clients focused on simulation, prediction, and optimization. About the Role: We are seeking an experienced AI Digital Twin Engineer with a strong healthcare system or biomedical data background. This role requires end-to-end ownership of AI-driven digital twin initiatives—from solution design and architecture to deployment and validation. The ideal candidate combines technical acumen with healthcare domain expertise to model physical processes and patient flows using AI, simulation, and data-driven methods. Key Responsibilities: • Design and implement AI-driven digital twin models to simulate healthcare systems, workflows, patient behavior, and operational processes. • Lead full project lifecycle: requirements gathering, model design, algorithm selection, data pipeline integration, testing, and deployment. • Translate complex biomedical and clinical processes into interpretable simulation models. • Integrate structured and unstructured health data (e.g., EHRs, sensor data, claims) into digital twin frameworks. • Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and healthcare SMEs to deliver scalable solutions. • Optimize models for real-time decision support, system simulation, or predictive analytics. • Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare standards (e.g., HIPAA, FDA/ISO for simulation validation). • Communicate insights and performance metrics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Requirements: • 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, systems modeling, or simulation. • 2+ years specifically in digital twin or healthcare simulation environments. • Proven experience working in healthcare domains such as hospital operations, diagnostics, patient risk modeling, or biomedical systems. • Strong programming skills in Python, including libraries like NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, TensorFlow/PyTorch, or SimPy. • Experience with modeling platforms (e.g., AnyLogic, MATLAB Simulink, or custom-built simulation environments). • Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or other healthcare interoperability standards. • Knowledge of data ingestion pipelines, ETL frameworks, and real-time data streaming. • Experience integrating AI/ML models into digital twin architectures and interactive dashboards (e.g., using Gradio, Dash, Streamlit, or similar). • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with clinical teams, product managers, and engineers. Preferred Qualifications: • Background in biomedical engineering, healthcare informatics, operations research, or systems engineering. • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). • Experience in Digital Health product development, clinical trial simulation, or personalized medicine. • Master's or Ph.D. in a related field is a plus.
