AI Engineer
Location: Hartford, CT (Remote)
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on AI Engineer to support the ongoing operation, modernization, and extension of AI-enabled applications. This role involves working with confidential and regulated financial and examination data, requiring strong technical expertise and secure development practices.
The Successful Candidate Will
• Work primarily in Python within modern web frameworks (e.g., FastAPI).
• Deploy and maintain services on Microsoft Azure (App Service, Storage, Key Vault, etc.).
• Collaborate in an AI-assisted software development environment, leveraging coding assistants for writing, reviewing, and debugging code.
• Partner with centralized AI teams to design, develop, and deploy AI-enabled tools.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain, enhance, and extend existing applications and services.
• Analyze requirements and provide design recommendations.
• Prepare source code, debug errors, and ensure software integrity.
• Configure, deploy, and monitor applications in cloud environments.
• Document workflows, processes, and technical procedures.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and provide technical consultation.
Required Skills & Experience
• Python development in a web environment (3+ years).
• Experience building applications powered by LLMs (e.g., Gemini, Claude, GPT) (2+ years).
• Professional experience in AI model comparison & selection (A/B testing) (2+ years).
• Strong knowledge of cloud computing and Microsoft Azure services.
• Familiarity with Git-based source control and pull-request workflows.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of secure development practices and handling confidential data.
Desired Skills
• Experience deploying applications in cloud environments (2+ years).
• Prior work with state or government agencies in AI development (1+ year).
• Strong collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.
