Role description
AI Engineer - Contract 2 Hire Office Locations Available: New Haven (CT) & Boston (MA) Onsite Schedule: Onsite 4 days /1 day remote per week Contract Duration: 1 year contract then full-time conversion Role Summary You will be applying AI to improve document retrieval, RFI workflows, and billing and transaction processes. These initiatives are designed to increase efficiency across the company’s job sites and streamline day to day construction operations. Responsibilities β€’ Workflow discovery and redesign: Lead Lean/Six Sigma workshops; map value streams; log high-impact AI agent opportunities that improve field efficiency. β€’ AI agent development: Build and deploy multiple production-ready AI agents using ChatGPT Enterprise, code-first frameworks, Copilot Studio, or Power Apps/Automate. Integrate agents into Teams/SharePoint on the front end and Databricks Lakehouse or other enterprise data sources on the back end. β€’ RAG pipelines and LLMOps: Design and operate retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines with Databricks Delta Tables, Unity Catalog, and Vector Search (or Spark/Hadoop equivalents). Monitor cost, latency, adoption, and model drift. β€’ Cross-cloud orchestration: Blend OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, and AWS Bedrock services through secure custom connectors to maximize flexibility and adoption. β€’ Data integration: Partner with Data Engineering to deliver ETL/ELT pipelines, API integrations, and event-driven connectors that feed RAG pipelines and AI agents. β€’ Change management and adoption: Train field teams, gather feedback, iterate quickly, and embed agents into SOPs. Track usage and ROI with adoption metrics and behavior-change KPIs. β€’ Stakeholder communication: Translate technical results into business value for leadership and clients. Contribute use cases and playbooks for the β€œConstruction Site of the Future.” β€’ Compliance and hand-offs: Ensure all AI solutions meet the company’s data governance and security standards. Draft clear user stories and specs for escalation to central AI/Data Engineering teams when necessary. Qualifications β€’ 5+ years of Software Development experience. β€’ 2+ years in AI or ML-focused engineering, including hands-on experience with LLMs and RAG Pipelines. β€’ Proven experience building multiple AI agents in production environments. β€’ Must have strong traditional coding background in Python. β€’ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Bonus Points if you have β€’ Experience with AWS Bedrock. β€’ Experience with SQL and Databricks. β€’ Experience building multi-agent frameworks.
