Job Title: AI Lead Engineer – Multi‑Agent Orchestration
Location: Remote
Contract with long‑term extension potential
The most important requirement for this role is experience building AI systems where multiple agents work together. They are not looking for someone who has only built individual agents or chatbots, and they are not looking for an Architect. Focus on candidates who have built the boss bot that manages and directs the other bots.
Overview
Client has been investing heavily in AI for the past 18 months, deploying dozens of tools and use cases. We are now moving beyond strategy and experimentation into production‑grade AI systems. The biggest gap today is agent orchestration — we have agents that can perform individual tasks, but we need someone who can build the orchestration layer that coordinates them.
We are seeking a hands‑on AI Lead Engineer with proven experience in multi‑agent workflows. This role is about building the “boss bot” — the agent that manages, directs, and synchronizes the work of other agents.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement multi‑agent orchestration frameworks where agents communicate, collaborate, and share context.
• Build hierarchical systems where one agent acts as the controller/manager, delegating tasks and monitoring progress.
• Operationalize AI solutions by moving prototypes into production environments with reliability and scalability.
• Partner with stakeholders to determine what should be built next and provide technical direction.
• Develop workflows that integrate with existing CI/CD pipelines and enterprise architecture.
• Ensure orchestration solutions align with responsible AI, governance, and compliance standards.
Requirements
• Strong AI Platform Engineer mindset with hands‑on builder experience.
• Proven track record of multi‑agent workflow design and orchestration.
• Experience deploying AI solutions into production environments.
• Familiarity with frameworks for agent communication and orchestration (e.g., LangChain, AutoGen, custom orchestration logic).
• Ability to provide technical leadership and guide roadmap execution.
• Comfort working in environments with rapid tool adoption (currently uses 76+ AI tools, adding ~2 per week).
Environment
• GitHub Copilot already deployed.
• Established CI/CD processes.
• Strong executive support — CIO reviews progress weekly.
• Significant AI roadmap with long‑term initiatives.
Candidate Profile
• Highly technical, hands‑on builder.
• Enjoys experimentation, side projects, open‑source contributions, and home labs.
• Not just chatbot builders — must have legitimate experience making agents talk to each other and putting one in charge.
