Job Title: AI Platform Architect (Azure)
Location: Open / Hybrid / Remote (as applicable)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract (as applicable)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced AI Platform Architect (Azure) to support the assessment, design, and implementation of enterprise AI capabilities within a Microsoft Azure environment. This role combines consultative architecture responsibilities with hands-on implementation and execution. It is not a strategy-only or roadmap-focused position.
The organization is early in its AI maturity journey and is focused on understanding its current Azure AI capabilities, defining scalable architecture patterns, and operationalizing AI initiatives from experimentation into production.
This role is ideal for an architect or senior engineer who has personally built and supported Azure AI platforms in production and can partner closely with engineering, infrastructure, and data teams to deliver practical AI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
AI Platform Assessment & Architecture
• Assess the current Azure AI and data platform environment, including tools, integrations, and deployment approaches
• Evaluate existing AI experimentation and identify gaps to reach production readiness
• Define scalable, secure, and repeatable AI architecture and deployment patterns
• Recommend appropriate Azure AI tools, platforms, and integration approaches
• Help guide platform and tooling decisions aligned with enterprise needs
Hands-On Implementation & Execution
• Support sandbox environments and early AI use cases
• Assist with AI solution deployments, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts
• Establish repeatable implementation and deployment patterns for AI workloads
• Partner with infrastructure, engineering, and data teams to operationalize AI solutions
• Support the transition of AI initiatives from pilot/POC into production environments
Required Qualifications
• Strong hands-on experience within Microsoft Azure environments
• Experience with Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, and/or Azure AI Foundry
• Experience implementing and supporting Databricks on Azure
• Proven experience deploying AI or ML solutions into production environments
• Ability to operate across both architecture/design and hands-on implementation
• Comfortable working in evolving, less-defined environments with emerging AI initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Copilot, conversational AI, or enterprise AI assistants
• Exposure to agentic AI workflows or autonomous AI systems
• API and integration architecture experience
• Experience with enterprise-scale governance, security, and scalability for AI platforms
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Has personally built, deployed, and supported Azure AI platforms
• Can clearly articulate practical challenges of moving AI from experimentation to production
• Balances architectural thinking with hands-on execution
• Communicates effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders
• Thrives in ambiguity and enjoys shaping early-stage AI initiatives
Plain-English Breakdown Of What This Role Really Requires
This is NOT:
• A traditional data architect role
• A BI, reporting, or data warehousing position
• A pure data engineering role
• A research-heavy AI/ML scientist role
• A strategy-only or governance-only consulting role
This IS:
• An AI platform and implementation architect
• Someone who has actually built and deployed AI solutions on Azure
• A hands-on professional who can design architecture and help implement it
• A strong Azure technologist with AI tooling experience
• Someone who can help move AI from POC production
Think:
"AI platform architect with data awareness"
not
"Traditional enterprise data architect pivoting into AI."
