AI Specialist - AI Foundry - Contract - West Yorkshire - Market Rate via Umbrella
West Yorkshire (3 days onsite) | Market Rate | Enterprise AI Leadership
We're building an AI Foundry to power the next generation of intelligent, secure, and scalable solutions across the business - and we're looking for a hands-on AI Specialist to lead the charge.
This is a senior, high-impact role where you'll shape strategy, design advanced AI systems, and set the technical standards for how AI is built and governed enterprise-wide.

What you'll be doing
• Lead the design and governance of enterprise AI, LLM and agentic AI solutions
• Shape AI strategy, standards, and architectural patterns
• Build and evaluate RAG pipelines, copilots, and multi-agent workflows
• Run POCs and experiments to test new AI capabilities
• Define guardrails for security, ethics, and responsible AI
• Review high-risk AI systems and provide technical assurance
• Advise on model selection, prompting strategies, and data approaches
• Mentor teams and raise AI capability across the organisation
• Challenge vendors and solutions with evidence-based benchmarking
What you'll bring
• Strong experience in AI/ML engineering, LLMs, and applied AI systems
• Hands-on experience with RAG, vector databases, embeddings, and orchestration
• Knowledge of multi-agent or autonomous workflows
• Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Solid grounding in data governance, security, and responsible AI
• Ability to explain complex AI concepts clearly to senior stakeholders
• Experience setting standards and influencing technical direction
Nice to have
• Experience in regulated industries (eg financial services)
• Exposure to enterprise governance or risk frameworks
