Role description
Peak Partners has a government contractor client who is looking for an experienced AI/ML Engineer. The right candidate will have a blend of hands-on technical expertise, data science acumen, and strong collaboration skills to translate mission needs into scalable, production-ready AI capabilities.
This job requires an on-site presence at Annapolis, MD and Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph!
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, and operationalize AI/ML models to solve mission and business challenges.
• Implement model architecture and data pipelines, ensuring interoperability with existing systems and data sources.
• Manage the full AI/ML lifecycle — including training, retraining, deployment, scheduling, monitoring, and continuous improvement of models based on user and system feedback.
• Define, interpret, and communicate model performance metrics to both technical and mission stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, data engineers, and mission subject matter experts to deliver integrated, high-performance solutions.
• Ensure AI/ML systems adhere to security, governance, and compliance standards.
• Provide technical leadership and serve as the primary POC for AI-related efforts, coordinating across geographically distributed development teams.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging tools, frameworks, and best practices in AI/ML to strengthen mission outcomes and accelerate innovation.
Required Qualifications:
• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph (Polygraph must be within the last 7 years)
• Proven experience designing and deploying machine learning and deep learning models in production environments.
• Strong understanding of model architectures, data pipelines, and metrics analysis.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C, or R.
• Experience with foundational software engineering principles, infrastructure management, data engineering, and data governance.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Hands-on experience with MLOps tools and frameworks (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow).
• Experience deploying AI/ML solutions in secure cloud or hybrid environments (i.e. AWS GovCloud).
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
Salary: $135,000 - $195,000 per year
