Role description
Job Title: Airflow Developer Location: Hybrid – Pennington, NJ Pay Range: $63 - $67/hr Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Astronomer Airflow Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable data orchestration pipelines using Apache Airflow on the Astronomer (Astro) managed platform. The ideal candidate will have strong Python development skills, hands-on expertise in Airflow DAG development, and experience working in cloud (AWS/Azure) environments with containerized deployments on Kubernetes. This role will play a key part in enabling enterprise-grade, reliable data workflows supporting analytics, data warehousing, and ML pipelines. Key Responsibilities: • Develop, enhance, and maintain Apache Airflow DAGs using Python for ETL/ELT workflows. • Build end-to-end orchestration pipelines integrating multiple data sources, APIs, and enterprise platforms. • Deploy and manage Airflow workflows using Astronomer (Astro) including best practices for enterprise environments. • Perform pipeline performance tuning, scheduling optimization, and task dependency management. • Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, and recovery strategies for Airflow workflows. • Work with data engineering teams to integrate Airflow with platforms like Snowflake/Databricks/Redshift/BigQuery. • Follow SDLC best practices including Git-based development, code reviews, and CI/CD pipeline automation. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, translate them into workflow designs, and ensure successful delivery. • Ensure workflow security compliance including IAM, secrets management, and access control. Required Skills & Qualifications: • 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering / Data Pipeline Development • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Airflow • Strong development experience in Python • Proven experience deploying/managing workflows on Astronomer (Astro) / Managed Airflow Strong understanding of: • Airflow Operators, Sensors, Hooks • Scheduling, retries, SLAs, backfills • DAG dependencies and task orchestration • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure • Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes • Good understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data integration patterns • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools • Experience with dbt orchestration through Airflow • Experience with modern data tools and frameworks (Spark, Databricks, Kafka, etc.) • Familiarity with data quality tools (Great Expectations, Soda, etc.) • Experience in enterprise monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, Splunk, etc.) • Exposure to security compliance practices for data pipelines Dexian is a leading provider of staffing, IT, and workforce solutions with over 12,000 employees and 70 locations worldwide.
