Role description
We’re on a mission to protect society from fraud and money laundering. We’ve already protected over 3 million people through life’s big transactions.
Fraud and regulation are rising, costing the UK economy over £100bn every year; this makes it more difficult for businesses to protect themselves and their clients - individuals like you and me - from fraud and money laundering.
Our co-founders Olly and Jack were led to this area when a friend was defrauded of £25K when buying their first property. At the time, anti-fraud technology didn’t exist, which meant that completing the anti-fraud checks required in these processes was largely manual. These big life moments should be exciting, but instead are often confusing and scary due to the painful process of completing these paper-based checks and the risk of fraud.
Thirdfort helps businesses to facilitate these anti fraud checks so that individuals know they can transact safely and seamlessly with professionals during these big transactions. Our anti-fraud platform provides a secure way for professionals in regulated sectors like Lawyers, Estate Agents and Accountants to transfer funds and verify sensitive information through app based document checks, facial recognition and open banking.
Over 1,500 businesses now trust Thirdfort to verify their clients. We are FCA regulated and have raised over $33m in capital from leading Fintech investors Breega and Element Ventures, as well as the founders of Zoopla, Funding Circle, Comply Advantage, Tessian, Fenergo and Fidel.
As a Analytics Engineer, you will:
• We are seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join Thirdfort on a 9 month fixed-term contract, covering parental leave within the team.
• Your mission is to keep Thirdfort’s analytics running smoothly, taking end-to-end ownership of the data foundations that teams rely on every day, from ingestion into BigQuery through dbt modelling and into Looker reporting. You will maintain and improve core metrics, with a particular focus on billing and revenue analytics, while raising reliability through better testing, documentation, and monitoring.
• What makes the role exciting is the combination of immediate, visible impact and a modern stack: you will be hands-on across the full workflow, partner closely with stakeholders across the business, and help make our operations AI-ready by ensuring the underlying data is trusted, consistent, and usable.
For this role, we would love this person to be able to join us in our offices a couple of times a week as being together as a team is valuable for us but ultimately, we trust our team to decide what works best for them.
You will achieve your mission as our Analytics Engineer by:
• Own and improve Thirdfort’s analytics models and datasets end-to-end, from raw data to trusted, well-documented outputs for reporting and decision-making.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and dbt transformations in BigQuery, improving data quality, testing, and monitoring so core metrics are consistent and auditable
• Keep billing analytics and billing logic accurate, and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain and enhance Looker dashboards and reporting, ensuring stakeholders can self-serve reliable insights.
• Partner with teams across the business to define metrics, answer questions with data, and deliver clear analysis that drives action.
• Troubleshoot data issues across the stack (source systems → warehouse → dbt → BI), driving fixes that reduce recurring errors and manual work.
• Contribute to analytics engineering best practices, including version control (Git), code review, documentation, and continuous improvement of the analytics stack.
• Help embed AI into day-to-day operations by making Thirdfort’s data foundations AI-ready
You may be right for this role if you have:
• Experience: 3-5+ years in an Analytics Engineering, Senior Data Analyst, or Data Engineering role, with a proven track record of owning end-to-end data workflows.
• Advanced SQL: Expert-level ability to write complex, highly performant, and readable SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
• Programming Skills: Familiarity with Python
• Modern Data Stack: Proficiency working with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery preferred), experience managing Fivetran, and expertise with data modelling tools (dbt preferred).
• Engineering Best Practices: Strong working knowledge of version control (Git), code reviews, data testing, and documentation.
• Business Intelligence (BI): Extensive experience building user-friendly, scalable dashboards in tools like Looker
• Business Acumen & Translation: Demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between technical data and business strategy, with a knack for translating ambiguous business questions into clear analytical requirements.
• Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to advise non-technical stakeholders, present insights clearly, and drive data-informed decisions.
Studies show that women and other less represented groups are less likely to apply for roles unless they meet every requirement. We believe in building a diverse team, valuing different skills and experiences and so if you don’t think you have all the requirements listed here but feel this could be a role and environment you’d thrive in, we would still love for you to apply.
Life at Thirdfort:
• Driven by our values, our culture promotes a collaborative and open environment where Thirdforters can take ownership, have impact, and feel empowered when it comes to their growth and development. We understand the importance of our teams wellbeing and recognise a one-size fits all approach rarely works, that’s why we aim to provide the flexibility individuals need to work in the way that suits them, and their families, best.
Our Benefits:
• We include compensation ranges on our job ads in the spirit of creating clarity in an effort to make our interview process more inclusive. We list a range that aligns with our internal banding which is based on varying factors including external benchmarking for our stage and size as a business. In terms of how we decide where an individual fits within the band, we’d take you through the interview process and assess you against our internal performance framework which gives us further clarity. We’ll also have open conversations with you throughout the interview process (starting in the first stage call) so we can be as open as possible about compensation as we understand how important it is to ensure we’re aligned.
• We’ve created our benefits package to reflect Thirdfort’s mission and values. Built on trust, our approach extends to supporting our team’s physical, mental and financial wellbeing through their big life moments. If you're a curious, kind individual who takes ownership, you'll be a great Thirdforter.
If you require any reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process, please let your dedicated Talent Partner know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
