ANALYTICS ENGINEER
£500 - £550 PER DAY INSIDE IR35
HYBRID (1 DAY PW IN THE OFFICE - LEICESTER)
3 MONTH CONTRACTTHE COMPANY:
This organisation is currently undergoing a digital transformation, with a strong focus on improving how operational data is utilised across the business. They are looking for an Analytics Engineer to help define "what good looks like" by connecting operational data to the wider business, improving forecasting capabilities, and identifying opportunities to drive efficiency through better modelling, reporting, and potential automation.THE ROLE:
You will play a key role in bringing together disparate data sources (including Zendesk and internal back-office systems) to create a unified, well-modelled, and accessible data layer. Your responsibilities will include:
• Integrating and modelling operational data into a cohesive analytics layer
• Building and maintaining robust data pipelines
• Developing standardised data models using SQL and dbt (analytics engineering best practices)
• Designing and maintaining transformations aligned to a semantic / reporting layer
• Identifying and resolving data quality issues, including duplicates and inconsistencies
• Creating clean, reliable datasets to support downstream reporting and analytics
• Building and supporting dashboards and reporting in Lightdash
• Supporting and enhancing the use of Lightdash across the business
• Collaborating with Ops, Data, Product, and senior stakeholders including the CFO
• Identifying opportunities for automation, optimisation, and improved efficiencyYOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
• Strong experience as an Analytics Engineer, BI Developer, or Data Engineer with a focus on modelling
• Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience with dbt
• Experience with Lightdash or Looker (semantic layer / BI tools)
• Experience designing and building data models and transformations
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to communicate with non-technical teams
• Experience working with operational or business process data
Desirable:
• Experience with Zendesk or similar customer/operations platforms
• Familiarity with Airflow or similar orchestration tools
• Python experience for data processing or automation
• Experience working with operational, transactional, or workflow-driven datasets
