Job Description
π Weβre Hiring a Analytics Engineer
π Location: US Remote
πΈ Salary: 425 USD / day
βοΈ Travel: occasional visits to client HQ Washington DC for important planning sessions, and potential client site visits
At Alliants, we're on a mission to transform every customer engagement into something exceptional. We believe in working smart together to push the boundaries of company culture and create future-proof customer experiences.
Are you passionate about creating meaningful customer experiences and helping organisations deliver on their brand promises?
Join us as an Analytics Engineer in our growing Data Division team! π
To join a dedicated, embedded team supporting one of our clients. This contract role is focused on the operational stability, maintenance, and enhancement of their existing data platform and Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. As a key member of the pod, you will be responsible for resolving data requests, supporting business users, and ensuring the core data infrastructure remains robust, secure, and performant.
Job Requirements
β’ 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, BI development, or a similar data-focused role.
β’ Expert-level SQL proficiency is mandatory, with demonstrable experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, and transformations across various database systems including SQL Server, Oracle, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
β’ Deep expertise in Power BI, including advanced DAX for complex measures, data modeling (star schemas) within Power BI, performance tuning, and administration of workspaces and security.
β’ Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting data pipelines, specifically using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
β’ Proven experience working in a hybrid data environment, comfortably querying and extracting data from both on-premise relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server) and cloud data platforms.
β’ Strong client-facing communication skills, with experience supporting non-technical business users and translating their needs into technical actions.
β’ Experience with data in a healthcare, senior living, or other regulated industry (e.g., familiarity with HIPAA or similar data privacy concerns).
β’ Familiarity with ticketing and workflow systems like ServiceNow.
β’ Scripting ability in Python or PowerShell for automation or data manipulation tasks.
β’ Understanding of version control with Git.
β’ A true service-oriented mindset, viewing business users as your primary customers and being driven to resolve their issues.
β’ An exceptional problem-solver, with a methodical and detail-oriented approach to diagnosing complex data issues.
β’ Thrives in an operational and support-focused role, finding satisfaction in stability, reliability, and continuous improvement over building new systems from scratch.
β’ Self-sufficient and highly organized, able to manage a support queue and prioritize effectively in a remote environment.
β’ A clear and proactive communicator, able to articulate technical information to a varied audience.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
β’ Relevant cloud certification (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Data Analytics).
Job Responsibilities
BI & Analytics Enablement:
β’ Serve as the subject matter expert for the client's Power BI environment, providing hands-on support to business users.
β’ Troubleshoot and optimize existing Power BI reports and dashboards, diagnosing performance bottlenecks, correcting data inaccuracies, and refining DAX calculations.
β’ Translate business user requests into effective ad-hoc queries and minor enhancements to existing data models to support their analytical needs.
β’ Manage Power BI user permissions, workspaces, and access controls.
Data Platform Operations & Maintenance
β’ Monitor and maintain existing data ingestion pipelines, ensuring data flows reliably from source systems (including Oracle, SQL Server, Workday) into their destinations (Azure, Snowflake etc.).
β’ Diagnose and resolve failures or data quality issues within existing data pipelines and databases, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
β’ Perform routine maintenance, optimization, and incident response for the clientβs production data environment across both Azure and legacy systems.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Support
β’ Act as a primary technical point of contact for data-related issues, managing and prioritizing inbound support tickets from business users.
β’ Work closely with client stakeholders to understand their data challenges and provide clear, concise communication regarding issue resolution and timelines.
β’ Collaborate with the internal Alliants team to ensure a cohesive and high-quality service delivery.
