Role description
Boston area only - please do not apply if outside of Boston area - hybrid role in office 3 days/week- Position Overview As a Data Engineer, reporting to the Associate Director of Data and Analytics, you will be part of a team responsible for the design, development, and optimization of Madrigal's silver and gold data layers, transforming raw and curated datasets into enriched, business-ready data products. This role is critical to enabling high-performance analytics and self-service reporting across the enterprise. You will ensure datasets are modeled and tuned for optimal querying in Power BI, driving speed, accuracy, and consistency in decision-making. In addition to hands-on development, you will contribute to architectural discussions, collaborate with team members, and champion data engineering best practices. Key Responsibilities β€’ Data Layer Development: Design and build of silver and gold data layers, applying advanced transformation and enrichment techniques to create analytics-ready datasets. β€’ Enterprise Data Products: Develop and maintain reusable, high-quality data products that serve cross-functional teams, including Medical Affairs, Corporate Functions, IT, and more. β€’ Performance Optimization: Design, model, and tune datasets for optimal performance in Power BI, ensuring scalable, reliable, and responsive analytics. β€’ Data Governance & Compliance: Implement processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with security and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, GxP). β€’ Metadata Management: Manage metadata associated with our data policy management and masking tool, Immuta, ensuring alignment with governance, access control, and compliance requirements. β€’ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely stakeholders, business analysts, and our data platform team in an Agile environment to translate requirements into technical solutions. β€’ Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering, BI, and analytics, and proactively introduce innovations that improve performance, scalability, and maintainability.
