Role description
Hi ,
This is Amir Ahmad from Mastech Global, we have below position available for Apache Airflow SME for Long Term Contract.
Position: Apache Airflow SME
Location: REMOTE
Type: W2 Contract Only
Must-have qualifications
β’ 4+ years hands-on with Apache Airflow in production (not just βused it in a pipelineβ) β scheduler, executors, DAG lifecycle, backfills
β’ Strong troubleshooting of Airflow failures: restart loops, scheduler lag, task queue issues, executor problems, dependency conflicts
β’ AWS production experience, specifically ECS on EC2 (containerized Airflow) β sizing, deployment, networking
β’ Security hardening: RBAC, secrets backends, TLS, and reducing Airflowβs provider surface / CVE footprint β this is FedPointβs core pain, so weight it heavily
β’ Comfortable with CVE triage and vulnerability justification β assessing exploitability, documenting findings for compliance review
β’ Python proficiency (Airflow is Python-native; needed to read/debug DAGs and providers)
β’ Docker/containerization fundamentals
β’ Strong written communication β client-facing support with SLA-bound response/resolution
Strongly preferred
β’ Experience supporting federal / government contractor environments; familiarity with FISMA/ NIST 800-53/800-171 concepts (support context, not as a certifier)
β’ Kubernetes (some clients run Airflow there even if FedPoint is ECS)
β’ CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation)
β’ Prior SLA-based support or managed-services experience (vs. pure engineering) β knows what β2-hour responseβ discipline actually means
β’ Monitoring: CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana
Soft requirements that matter for support (not engineering)
β’ Calm under production-incident pressure; good bedside manner with a stressed client
β’ Documentation discipline β runbooks, justification write-ups, ticket hygiene
β’ Able to work a defined coverage window reliably (federal clients notice SLA misses)
