We’re looking for an Application Support Analyst to join our IT team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll support, maintain, and improve bespoke applications that underpin critical business processes, ensuring they remain stable, secure, and aligned to operational needs. What You’ll Do In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting business-critical applications and maintaining service continuity across the organisation. β€’ Provide 2nd line support for internally developed (bespoke) business applications β€’ Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for assigned systems β€’ Investigate, diagnose, and resolve application issues, including data-related incidents β€’ Take ownership of incidents and problems through to resolution, working with developers, infrastructure teams, and vendors β€’ Ensure applications meet agreed availability, performance, and support SLAs β€’ Proactively identify recurring issues and contribute to root cause analysis and permanent fixes β€’ Write and maintain SQL scripts for data investigation, validation, fixing data issues, and supporting ad-hoc and operational reporting β€’ Analyse complex datasets to support incident resolution and business queries β€’ Work with developers to validate database changes and releases β€’ Support user acceptance testing (UAT), release validation, and post-deployment checks β€’ Support ITSM processes including incident, problem, change, and release management β€’ What you’ll get A hands-on role supporting business-critical applications β€’ The opportunity to develop SQL, data analysis, and application support expertise β€’ Exposure to bespoke systems and complex data environments β€’ A collaborative IT environment working with developers, stakeholders, and support teams β€’ Opportunities to contribute to service improvement and system optimisation β€’ Competitive package including wellbeing support, pension, and additional benefits What we’re looking for: β€’ Proven experience in an Application Analyst, Application Support, or Systems Analyst role β€’ Strong SQL scripting skills β€’ Experience supporting bespoke or internally developed applications β€’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly around data issues β€’ Experience working within an ITSM or service-led environment β€’ Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Desirable: β€’ Experience working with developers on application releases and fixes β€’ Understanding of application architecture, integrations, and data flows β€’ Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI, SSRS, or similar β€’ Exposure to automation, scripting, or low-code platforms β€’ Experience supporting business-critical or operational systems Additional requirements Willingness to provide out-of-hours support and escalation where required Ability to attend onsite in Billericay a minimum of four days per week Be part of a team where your work ensures critical systems remain reliable, efficient, and fit for purpose.
