Role description
Role Overview:
The MHS GENESIS Application Support Analyst will support enterprise healthcare data and analytics initiatives by providing backend application support, data troubleshooting, and analytics development within Oracle Cerner MHS GENESIS systems. This role works closely with clinical, financial, and IT stakeholders to deliver data-driven insights that improve healthcare operations, financial performance, and system reliability. The position focuses heavily on Cerner backend data structures, Discern development, and CCL query development to support reporting and operational workflows across healthcare revenue cycle systems.
Role Highlights:
β’ Position: MHS GENESIS Application Support Analyst
β’ Location: Remote (U.S.) or Tysons Corner, VA / San Antonio, TX
β’ Travel: Up to 1β2 times per year for team meetings
β’ JobType: Full Time
β’ PayRate: Up to $115,000 annually (flexible for senior candidates)
β’ Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Required Core Experience (must have):
β’ Strong experience working with MHS GENESIS backend tables
β’ Discern development experience
β’ Hands-on experience writing CCL (Cerner Command Language) queries
β’ Background supporting Oracle Cerner environments
β’ Vertica SQL is preferred but not required
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Develop and maintain CCL and Discern queries supporting analytics, reporting, and operational data extracts from MHS GENESIS
β’ Analyze and troubleshoot backend data issues impacting revenue cycle, patient access, billing, and scheduling workflows
β’ Build and optimize SQL queries and reusable datasets supporting healthcare financial and operational analytics
β’ Support Health Data Intelligence (HDI) and enterprise analytics platforms used for reporting and data analysis
β’ Investigate system and data discrepancies related to charge capture, billing edits, claims processing, and registration errors
β’ Collaborate with clinical, coding, billing, finance, and IT teams to ensure data accuracy and operational alignment
β’ Perform data validation, lineage analysis, and quality assurance checks across healthcare data platforms
β’ Support reporting and dashboard initiatives using SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar analytics tools
β’ Assist with testing, validation, and system upgrades impacting analytics or revenue cycle data workflows
β’ Produce documentation including data dictionaries, analytic summaries, and technical methodology documentation
β’ Participate in ITSM processes including incident, problem, and change management
Technical Skills:
β’ MHS GENESIS & Oracle Cerner systems
β’ Cerner backend data tables
β’ Discern development and Cerner Command Language (CCL)
β’ SQL development for analytics and reporting (Vertica SQL preferred)
β’ Healthcare revenue cycle systems and financial analytics

Key Requirements:
β’ Bachelorβs degree from an accredited institution
β’ Experience supporting MHS GENESIS & Oracle Cerner environments
β’ Hands-on experience working with Cerner backend data structures

β’ Strong SQL development experience for analytics and reporting (Vertica SQL preferred)
β’ Experience supporting healthcare revenue cycle operations such as billing, claims, or financial reporting
β’ Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex healthcare system data issues
β’ Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and operational stakeholders
β’ Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
