Role description
Title: Applied Data Scientist Location: Remote with required travel to Plano, TX β€’ 1X Per quarter - 4x per year β€’ Duration: 12 month contract with extensions/permanent placement possible (W2) Required Skills & Experience β€’ Strong coding skills in Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn) and SQL. β€’ Experience with regression, elasticity estimation, clustering, and experimental validation. β€’ Comfort working with optimization outputs and constraints. β€’ Ability to wrangle data from cloud-based sources and iterate quickly with stakeholders. β€’ Ability to speak directly with stakeholders to bring in complex questions, work with existing models, and be able to begin exploratory analysis Nice to Have Skills & Experience β€’ Logistics simulation experience, API-driven optimization tools, and basic MLOps hygiene. Job Description A retail client is hiring Applied Data Scientists to join their Profit to Serve (PTS) initiativeβ€”a priority program driving scenario modeling and last-mile routing optimization to improve profitability and service. PTS is a foundational enabler in our AI strategy, connecting precision costing with automated insights and routing simulations. β€’ β€’ β€’ This group is a financially focused group, looking at cost impacts for logistics and routing. This individual will have to be able to look at things from a cost perspective, and the goal is to improve the existing models to overall improve the accuracy of financial decisions. β€’ β€’ What You’ll Do β€’ Build and iterate models for cost impact estimation, price elasticity, and routing optimization. β€’ Design clustering approaches for route/service segmentation and validate optimization assumptions. β€’ Translate ambiguous business questions into testable models and ship prototypes weekly. β€’ Collaborate closely with business partners and data science leads to deliver reusable solutions. 1.
