Role description
Job Description Art Director, Data Visualization (Contract) $100/hr (w2) 6 months 40hrs a week Mo-Fri Hybrid in Culver City or NYC 3x w week Graphic Designer mindset, working within code-driven, generative design. Focus on abstract art through code, with a strong editorial foundation. What You’ll Do β€’ Design data visualizations, infographics, and editorial graphics β€’ Ideate and concept at the intersection of data, design, and code β€’ Create work that translates complex data into human, resonant stories β€’ Collaborate closely with engineers, speaking their language and working in code daily β€’ Prototype and experiment with generative and interactive outputs What We’re Looking For β€’ Strong portfolio in data viz, infographics, and editorial design β€’ Experience with generative/code-based work (Processing, D3, similar; Claude is a plus) β€’ Not an engineer, but comfortable coding and working in dev environments β€’ Background in agency or editorial environments preferred β€’ Work that balances analytical rigor with human expression Nice to have β€’ Motion, interaction, or experiential design (museums, installations) β€’ Tools like D3, Figma, illustration, or interactive systems β€’ Interest in code + theory, experimental or immersive design Key traits β€’ Concept-driven thinker β€’ Clear visual storyteller β€’ Curious, collaborative, and hands-on with code
