As modern technologies push beyond the limits of traditional silicon scaling, new materials and complex 3D integrated architectures are emerging—but their synthesis, defect control, and structural characterization remain major bottlenecks. Matter 42 addresses this challenge by integrating Agentic AI, multimodal data analytics, and machine-learned physics models into a unified closed-loop manufacturing workflow. About the Collaboration We’re looking for a highly motivated AI Engineer to collaborate closely with world-class researchers on an innovative, AI-driven framework that bridges molecules to manufacturing lines. This is a short-term, high-impact engagement ideal for someone who is: • Excited about applied AI at the intersection of physics, materials, and manufacturing • Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving research environment • Interested in a 1–3 month contract We are looking for individuals with: • 3+ years of experience training and fine-tuning AI/ML models • Understanding of basic quantum physics • Strong curiosity and ability to learn quickly • Self-driven and proactive working style Nice to have: • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Materials Science, Physics, or Inorganic Chemistry • Research or industrial experience in AI-driven simulation modeling • Based in the Bay Area, CA Logistics • Short-term Independent Contractor Agreement (1–3 months; scope and deliverables to be defined) • Primarily remote (PST), with 3–5 in-person meetings if based in the Bay Area • No medical benefits provided • B2B collaborations are welcome Let’s build the future of materials discovery, together with Matter 42.
