Job Summary
Hive+Co has a contract opportunity with our client in Fort Wayne, Indiana for an entry-level Data Analyst/Scientist to support operational, business, and strategic decision-making across the organization. This role is responsible for conducting foundational analysis on various data types to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations. The Data Analyst will perform data mining, auditing, aggregation, validation, and reconciliation, while building basic reports and conducting introductory hypothesis testing to support management insights.
Candidates with distribution or utility industry experience are strongly preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with developing basic analytical tools and models to address high-value business problems.
Use analytical and data management skills to deliver actionable business intelligence to stakeholders.
Build an understanding of business processes and utilize that knowledge to contribute to meaningful analysis.
Help identify, acquire, validate, and manage data required for analytic studies.
Support the development of predictive and prescriptive analytics components that enhance operational efficiency and inform strategic initiatives.
Apply data visualization tools to large data sets to improve clarity and insight.
Learn data acquisition workflows and data governance practices across business units using diverse systems.
Collaborate with technology and business partners to improve data acquisition, data management, and reporting processes.
Assist in creating clear, concise written reports and delivering oral presentations of findings.
Support the creation of dashboards and reporting tools that communicate trends, variances, and performance metrics.
Work with stakeholders to operationalize key reports and dashboards, ensuring they meet ongoing business needs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
No additional experience required; entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
A combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.
Preferred Skills & Tools
Experience with any of the following is beneficial (but not required):

Excel (advanced functions preferred)
Hadoop or other big-data platforms
Power BI
Cognos or other BI software
