Job Title: Associate Fraud Risk Data Scientist
Pay Rate: $45–$50/hr (W2)
Location: San Jose, CA (Hybrid Preferred)
Duration: 12-Month Contract | Full-Time (40 hrs/week)
About the Role
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Associate Fraud Risk Data Scientist to join a cutting-edge Risk Data & AI Innovation team. In this role, you will support key projects focused on fraud detection, risk analysis, and loss mitigation using advanced data science and machine learning techniques.
This is a contract role designed to support the team during multiple planned leaves over the next year, with potential for extension based on business needs and performance. The ideal candidate is experienced in data science, passionate about fraud prevention, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
• Design and develop machine learning and AI models to detect and mitigate fraud
• Use data analysis to identify fraud trends and create actionable insights
• Collaborate with stakeholders across product, engineering, and business teams to implement and monitor AI-driven risk solutions
• Develop dashboards and visualizations to track model performance and fraud KPIs
• Contribute to the broader AI transformation within risk management efforts
What You Bring
• 2–6 years of experience in data science, machine learning/AI, and risk analytics
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong experience solving complex business problems using statistical analysis and machine learning
• High proficiency in SQL, Python, AWS, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or AWS Quicksight
• Experience working with large-scale datasets in risk, fraud, eCommerce, or payments domains
• Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and leading projects with clarity and direction
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience developing AI models using LLMs or other generative AI tools
• Experience in building and implementing fraud or risk-specific models
• Prior background in trust & safety, fraud prevention, abuse detection, or similar risk functions
• Strong communication and project management skills
