Role description
Senior Technical Lead – UC4 Upgrade & Application Integration
Remote Job
12+ months contract
Role Overview:-
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Lead to spearhead a critical, enterprise-wide UC4 (Broadcom Automic Workload Automation) version upgrade. In this role, you will own the technical strategy for the upgrade, design the post-upgrade verification framework, and serve as the central orchestration hub connecting infrastructure teams with over 100+ downstream application teams.
This position requires a unique blend of deep engineering expertise in workload automation, rigorous release validation methodologies, and exceptional program-level stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities:-
1. Architectural & Technical Leadership (UC4 Upgrade)
Upgrade Strategy & Execution: Define the end-to-end technical roadmap, rollback strategies, and cutover plans for migrating the enterprise UC4 environment to the target version.
Infrastructure Collaboration: Work closely with Database Administrators, System Administrators, and Security teams to ensure infrastructure compatibility, optimal performance tuning, and robust TLS/SSL security configurations for the new version.
Object & Script Optimization: Identify, analyze, and remediate compatibility issues within existing UC4 objects, v9/v12/v21 scripting languages, variable objects, and custom inclusions.
1. Post-Upgrade Testing & Validation Framework
Test Strategy Design: Establish a bulletproof post-upgrade verification strategy covering component testing, integration testing, end-to-end batch processing simulation, and regression testing.
Automation & Validation: Create automated verification scripts or utilize UC4 features to validate agent connectivity, database communication, service levels, and UI functionality post-migration.
Performance Benchmarking: Analyze system performance, throughput, and UI responsiveness against pre-upgrade baselines to ensure no operational degradation.
1. Large-Scale Project Management & Application Coordination
Mass Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary technical point of contact for 100+ distinct application development and business teams reliant on the central batch schedule.
Migration Playbook Creation: Develop clear, step-by-step application onboarding and verification playbooks to guide distributed teams through their specific agent upgrades and job testing cycles.
Risk & Issue Management: Track dependencies, identify critical-path bottlenecks, and establish a clear triage process to rapidly resolve application-specific batch failures during the stabilization phase.
Command Center Operations: Lead technical bridge calls during weekend cutovers and hypercare periods, managing communication efficiently across multi-layered teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Experience:
8+ years of IT experience, with a minimum of 3+ years acting in a Technical Lead or Principal Engineer capacity.
UC4 Expertise: Proven track record of successfully executing at least one major version upgrade of Broadcom Automic Workload Automation / UC4 (e.g., migrating from v12 to v21).
Core Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of UC4 Automation Engine architecture, including AE servers, ServiceManager, WP/CP processes, and various Agent types (OS, Database, RA Agents, etc.).
Strong proficiency in UC4 scripting language and utilities (e.g., DB Unload/Load, Change Logging, Client Copy).
Solid database knowledge (Oracle, MS SQL, or DB2) as it relates to the Automic schema.
Scale & Management Skills:
Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving 100+ application teams or thousands of distinct active jobs.
Strong matrix management skills—ability to influence and drive execution across teams without direct authority.
Expertise in project management frameworks, tracking tools (Jira, Confluence, MS Project), and establishing clear technical governance.
Preferred Qualifications
Broadcom/Automic Certified Professional.
Experience with modern Automic features like the Automic Web Interface (AWI), REST API integrations, or analytics components.
Background in migrating legacy infrastructure toward cloud-hybrid execution environments using Automic agents.
