Role description
Location(s): Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid schedule) Duration: 12+ Months with opportunity to extend or convert Role Type: W2 contract Position Overview We are seeking an experienced AVEVA PI Engineer to support capital projects and operational technology (OT) data initiatives across a growing enterprise environment. This role will focus on integrating near real-time operational data from generation assets into the enterprise PI ecosystem, developing Asset Framework (AF) models and analytics, and delivering data visualization solutions that drive operational insights and business value. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with the AVEVA PI System, including PI Server administration, Asset Framework, analytics, data integration, and visualization technologies. This individual will play a key role in designing and implementing end-to-end solutions that ensure high-quality OT data is effectively integrated into IT systems and made available for analytics, reporting, and business applications. Key Responsibilities • Design, implement, and support enterprise AVEVA PI System solutions across operational and business environments. • Integrate real-time operational data from generation facilities and other industrial assets into the PI ecosystem. • Develop and maintain PI Asset Framework (AF) models, analytics, and calculations to support operational performance and decision-making. • Build and enhance PI Vision dashboards and visualizations for engineering, operations, and business users. • Configure and support OT/IT data integration using industry-standard protocols and interfaces. • Enable secure distribution of operational data to third-party applications, business systems, and cloud platforms. • Collaborate with project teams, operations personnel, and business stakeholders to define requirements and deliver scalable solutions. • Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of PI infrastructure and associated applications. Required Qualifications • 5+ years of hands-on experience with the AVEVA PI System, including end-to-end implementation and support. • Strong experience with PI Server, Asset Framework (AF), PI Analytics, PI Vision, and real-time data architectures. • Knowledge of OT/IT integration, industrial data systems, and data management best practices. • Experience with highly available server-side and front-end PI environments. • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with scripting or software development (PowerShell, Python, SQL, C#, or similar). • Familiarity with cloud technologies and AVEVA Connect. • Experience supporting power generation, utilities, energy, or other industrial environments. • Understanding of industrial communication protocols and enterprise data integration architectures.
