Role description
Role Summary
A hands-on Senior AWS Engineer / Infrastructure Lead to drive the design, implementation, and ongoing support of the AWS platform for this modernization program. The role requires end-to-end ownership of the infrastructure stream — including creation of infra stories for each sprint, defining and prioritizing scope, leading onsite/offshore teams, and providing deployment and production-support oversight. The candidate must have a strong command of AWS services, Terraform/EAC automation, CI/CD, and multi-region resiliency patterns..
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the Infrastructure stream — create and refine infra stories, define sprint scope, prioritize backlog items, and ensure timely delivery.
• Provide technical leadership for onsite and offshore engineers, guiding them on AWS architecture, deployments, and troubleshooting.
• Lead the design and development of serverless, event-driven AWS architectures using Lambda, (Python/JAVA), ECS Fargate Task(Python/Java), Step Functions, and EventBridge.
• Work closely with Mainframe SMEs to understand the business logic and translate legacy Mainframe Assembler logic and Mastercard IPM messages into Python/Java-based workflows running on AWS.
• Implement multi-region active/passive architecture with S3 Cross-Region Replication, Aurora Global Databases (Serverless), and EventBridge Global Endpoints.
• Manage infrastructure provisioning through EAC (Environment as Code), a Terraform-based automation framework, ensuring consistent and compliant deployments.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Spinnaker/Jenkins) for Lambda and ECS workloads, including rollback and promotion
• strategies.
• Enforce TrueCD testing practices—contract, integration, and regression testing for continuous delivery validation.
• Implement observability and monitoring using CloudWatch, Datadog, X-Ray, and Splunk with dashboards, alerts, and traces.
• Ensure security best practices across IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, and network/VPC design.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, create and refine user stories for the infrastructure stream, and mentor junior engineers.
• Document architecture, deployment runbooks, DR procedures, and operational playbooks.
• (Preferred) Contribute to Airflow DAG development for orchestrating Visa and Mastercard processing workflows.
Required Skills
• 6–10 years of cloud engineering experience with 3+ years in AWS.
• Deep hands-on expertise with AWS services: Lambda (Java/Python) ECS Fargate Task (Java/Python), Step Functions, EventBridge, S3, MWAA, Aurora PostgreSQL Serverless.
• Strong knowledge of Terraform (EAC wrapper) for multi-region infrastructure provisioning.
• Experience implementing HA/DR and replication strategies (Aurora Global DB, S3 CRR).
• Proven experience in CI/CD automation with Jenkins, Spinnaker, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with TrueCD test strategies and contract testing frameworks.
• Strong coding background in Python Or Java for data parsing.
• Deep understanding of security, IAM policies, KMS encryption, and network isolation in AWS, Oauth, SSL Certificate.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
Nice to Have
• Experience with Apache Airflow or MWAA for orchestration and scheduling.
• Exposure to Mainframe modernization OR Mastercard IPM/Visa VTF.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with enterprise-scale stakeholders.
